A Sovereign Voice for Modern Times: Morgan Myles Reclaims the Narrative on Laced

By Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine

There are voices that demand attention, and then there are voices that command a room into silence. Morgan Myles belongs to the latter. Since her historic four-chair turn on NBC’s The Voice, the industry has been waiting for the definitive statement of her artistry. On February 13, that statement arrives via Blue Élan Records in the form of her highly anticipated new album, Laced.

Produced by the legendary Ross Hogarth, Laced is a 12-track masterclass in Americana, soul, and roots-rock. It is an album that doesn’t just ask to be heard; it demands to be felt.

Track-by-Track: A Journey Through Laced

While the full album drops next month, the early buzz surrounding the project—led by the powerhouse single “American Sky”—suggests a collection that is as sonically rich as it is lyrically profound.

1. Fault Lines The album opens with a gritty exploration of instability. Co-written with David Grissom and Helen Darling, this track sets the tone with an atmospheric blend of rock and roots, exploring the shaky ground we walk on in both our personal lives and our shared reality.

2. Waiting to Happen A mid-tempo track that highlights Myles’ ability to blend pop-country sensibilities with raw emotion. It captures that breathless, precarious moment before a major life change, whether for better or worse.

3. Rock Bottom Myles digs deep into the blues on this standout. It’s a testament to her vocal power, proving that there is a specific kind of strength found only when you have nothing left to lose.

4. Love is Lonesome A hauntingly beautiful ballad co-written with Gary Nichols. This track strips away the production to showcase the vulnerability that has made Myles a fan favorite at the Grand Ole Opry.

5. American Sky (Lead Single) The crown jewel of the album. Written with Melody Federer and Matthew Morrisey, this is a soul-stirring anthem for a fractured nation. It tackles political theater, greed, and social unrest with unflinching honesty. Yet, the soaring chorus—“But hope is in her eyes with every gold sunrise”—serves as a reminder of the resilience of the human spirit.

6. Bad Faith A sharp, biting commentary on betrayal and broken promises. The instrumentation here is lean and mean, providing a perfect backdrop for Myles’ commanding delivery.

7. Weight of Your Words A meditation on the power of communication. This track explores how the things we say to one another can either build a bridge or burn it down, featuring some of the most intricate guitar work on the record.

8. How Does That Sound A bluesy, swagger-filled track that leans into Myles’ rock influences. It’s a song about boundaries and self-worth that is sure to be a highlight of her live sets.

9. Que Sera Serenade A clever play on the classic “Que Sera, Sera.” This track is an ode to letting go and finding peace in the uncertainty of the future.

10. Laced (Title Track) The heart of the record. This song explores the intricate ways our lives are woven together—through love, grief, and shared history. It is a cinematic, expansive piece of music that justifies its place as the album’s namesake.

11. Moment of Mercy A soulful, gospel-tinged plea for grace. In a world of “noise” and “chaos,” this track offers a much-needed breath of stillness and forgiveness.

12. Language of Flowers The album closes on a poetic note. A soft, evocative track that leaves the listener with a sense of connection and growth, proving that even after the storm, something beautiful can bloom.

About the Artist: Morgan Myles

Morgan Myles is no stranger to the spotlight, but Laced marks her arrival as a fully realized independent force. After earning the fastest four-chair turn in the history of The Voice and finishing as a top-three finalist, Myles has spent years honing her craft on the road, performing over 100 shows a year.

Her previous project, Live at Apogee Studio, mixed by the legendary Bob Clearmountain, hinted at her raw potential. However, with Laced, Myles steps into her power as a songwriter, co-writing every single track. Her music—a seamless blend of soul, Americana, and country—has earned her praise from Billboard, Rolling Stone, and American Songwriter.

“Even when it feels like everything is falling apart, hope is still there if we’re willing to look up,” Myles says of her new music.

With the backing of Blue Élan Records and a world-class production team, 2026 is poised to be the year Morgan Myles becomes a household name in the Americana scene.
