Michael Coleman of See Your Shadow Songwriting Interview Part 5

by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International

Lamitschka: What can your fans expect to see when they see you in concert?

Coleman: Well we are primarily studio based and only do live shows if it is a special event or occasion, so if fans of our work see a show advertised, you best believe it is going to  be phenomenal because that means we are coming out for something special.

Lamitschka: When you are on tour, do you have time to play tourist?

Coleman: As I stated earlier, we are more of a studio-based entity, but I do love to travel and I do play tourist wherever I go.  I love learning about other places and seeing other places.

Lamitschka: Do your fans mob you everywhere you go or do they respect your privacy?

Coleman: I love interacting with people, so I embrace fan interaction.  Having a personal connection with those that love your work further pushes you to keep doing what you do.

Lamitschka: Many music fans today get their information about artists online.  Do you have your own website and what will fans find there?

Coleman: Yes.  Our flagship website is www.seeyourshadow.com and there fans can hear some of our work, link to our social media, read the blogs and learn more about what we do.

Lamitschka: Tell us about the fan club and how people can join it.

Coleman: Well we don’t have an official fan club, so to speak but we do encourage folks to like us on Facebook.

Lamitschka: What is the best compliment a fan has ever given you?

Coleman: When we hit number 1 on the Reverb Nation Country Chart, a fan chimed in and sent me a note saying how much we deserved to be there.

Lamitschka: What’s your favorite song that you wish you could have recorded?

Coleman: There are my favorite songs and then songs I wished I would have written.  My all-time favorite song is The Theme from “Mahogany” by Diana Ross.  Now a song I wish I would have written is “You’re Gonna Miss This” performed by Trace Adkins.

Lamitschka: What message would you like to send your European fans?

Coleman: I would like to say to our European fans a big heartfelt thanks for their support.  European fans are paramount to the success of independent artists and the great year we have been having would not have happened without them.

Lamitschka: Fans are always hungry for good road stories.  Do you have one you can share with us (come on don’t be shy)?

Coleman: Actually, I don’t have any good road stories because we are primarily a studio-based entity.

Lamitschka: Describe what a perfect day is like for you?

Coleman: A perfect day for me would be one where I am all alone with some of my guilty pleasure shows on the television, or just a day by myself enjoying the quiet.

Lamitschka: Most careers don’t last as long as yours.  What’s given your career the staying power?

Coleman: I honestly have to say it’s the material that See Your Shadow creates.  We do so many different types of things and we are constantly reinventing ourselves our coming up with new things and I think it is that diversity in the projects that sustain us.
