The Town of Bluefield, Virginia, rolled out the red carpet this past weekend to give a resounding “thank you” to one of its most celebrated daughters, rising country music star Makenzie Phipps. The special recognition event, held on Saturday at the picturesque Fincastle Restaurant, was a collaborative effort by the Town of Bluefield, Southwest Virginia Community College, and Graham High School.   • Proclamation of ‘Makenzie Phipps Day’: The most enduring honor was a formal proclamation declaring December 6, 2025, as ‘Makenzie Phipps Day’ in Bluefield, Virginia.

Bluefield Mayor Donnie Linkous spoke glowingly about the honoree’s character and influence. “Makenzie has carried the name of Bluefield with grace, humility, and excellence,” Mayor Linkous stated. “We are thrilled to recognize her achievements and to thank her for being a true role model for our region. Declaring December 6th as ‘Makenzie Phipps Day’ is a well-deserved tribute to her impact and to the joy she brings to all who hear her sing.”


The Small-Town Girl Who Made It Big

For Makenzie Phipps, the recognition was a deeply personal and meaningful affirmation of the support she has felt throughout her journey.
