NNASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 22, 2012) – When the GOP takes over Tampa,
Florida, next week, it will do so with the support of several high
profile artists including Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Oak Ridge Boys and Lee
Greenwood, among others.

Rock
legends Lynyrd Skynyrd kick off the 2012 Republican National Convention
in Tampa on Sunday, August 26 as part of the fundraising event Citizens
Helping Heroes presents Southern Tribute IV Honoring America’s Heroes.
The concert is open to paid sponsors and their guests. The Hall of Fame
members who recently released their new album, Last of a Dyin’ Breed,
(August 21) will also perform inside the convention center on Monday,
August 27, as Ann Romney is introduced to the attendees. This is not the
first time the guys have lent their voices in support of the GOP,
Lynyrd Skynyrd performed at the Republican National Convention in 2000
as well as at various campaign stops for President Bush and again at the
RNC in 2004.

Grammy-winning
group, The Oak Ridge Boys will take center stage and show their
patriotism by performing the National Anthem on Monday, August 27.  The
country legends have been proclaimed the official leading singers of the
anthem by the National Music Council in recognition of the iconic
group’s contribution to the preservation of patriotic American music,
their longstanding advancement of musical culture and their commitment
to celebrating the global diversity of music traditions. The Oak Ridge
Boys will also be attending various other special events during the
RNC.  They performed at the Republican National Convention in New
Orleans in 1988 and at White House event on numerous occasions.

Known
for his patriotic anthem “God Bless the USA,” Lee Greenwood will
perform twice on August 27 at events outside the RNC – one private show
for convention guests and one show open to the public both at the Hard
Rock Café beginning at 9 pm. In May of this year, Greenwood released his
book “Does God Still Bless the U.S.A.? A Plea for a Better America,” an
inspirational work examining America’s challenges and her future. A
Presidential Appointee serving on The National Endowment for the Arts
Council, Greenwood was honored with the prestigious National Patriot’s
Award, presented by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.  In
addition, Greenwood is the national spokesperson for Operation Never
Forgotten (ONF), an all-volunteer national non-profit communications
service that connects military and civilian worlds through non-partisan
public service announcements (PSAs). He has also entertained the troops
on more than 30 USO tours over the years.
