The Group Accompanies Children’s Charity, Compassion International,
to Colombia for an Up Close Look at Organization’s Work
Nashville, TN – – (August 21, 2011) Country all-girl group, The Lunabelles have a whole new view on world poverty. The girls recently traveled to Colombia with renowned children’s charity, Compassion International.
“I have been raving about Compassion ever since we left Colombia,” says Dominique Arciero, who sings and plays piano and mandolin. “When people ask me how the trip was, my mind immediately jumps to the people who work hands-on in these little communities to make Compassion’s intentions come true, daily.”
The Lunabelles spent a whole week in Colombia, visiting schools, churches, and communities that Compassion International helps.
“The pastors and teachers who give their undivided attention, time and energy for the future of the children is what makes Compassion’s programs so effective,” Arciero says.
The Lunabelles record for BNA Records. Their music brandishes a bold, eclectic combination of traditional and modern elements that set them apart from most Country music acts. Toss in their tight harmonies and you get a unique, captivating sound that most up-and-coming artists spend years trying to hone.
Sisters Dominique, Gabby and Olivia Arciero grew up performing together. They met Alex Kline after moving to Nashville and Kline soon became the fourth member of the group.
The Lunabelles are the latest Country act to embrace Compassion International since the organization reached out to Country music earlier this summer. Other Country artists include 90’s hit maker John Berry, Marty Raybon, former lead singer of Shenandoah, Emerson Drive, Buddy Jewell, and bluegrass group The Roys.
One thing the Lunabelles noticed on their trip to Colombia especially impresses Arciero. “These young adults who came out of Compassion’s programs want to go back to their communities and improve them, work in them,” she says.
Zane King, Artist Relations Regional Director for Compassion International agrees. “When you sponsor one of these children and increase opportunities for them, they, in turn, grow up and create opportunities for children in their communities. We’re changing the world one child at a time.”
