Levi Hummon Interview by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

Music has many new fans throughout Europe who may be hearing about you for the first time. How would you describe yourself and the music you play to someone who has never seen or heard you?

I’ve always been a singer/Songwriter first, so my songs are based around a story. Sonically, I would describe myself as both pop, country, & rock influenced. As a listener I’m somewhat genre-less and I think people will hear that in my music.

Please tell us about some of your musical influences.

Everything from Ed Sheeran , Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley to artists like Jeff Buckley.

Your current single is „Songs We Sang“. What do you feel is special about this song that makes people want to hear it?

Songs We Sang is one of my favorites to perform live – it always gets a great reaction from the crowd. The song is about what you remember from your childhood, and for me that was growing up in Nashville driving around in my mom’s old minivan cranking up my favorite tunes.

What is your favorite song among all the songs you have recorded and what’s the story behind it?

It’s probably the new one, Songs We Sang. I just think it’s a jam and I really love how it turned out.

What inspired you to become a singer/songwriter?

Music has always been in my blood, but I credit my dad as the biggest inspiration for my music. He’s an amazing singer songwriter and he always has pushed me to write my own material and be my own artist.

What’s unique about you that will differentiate you from other artists?

I just love weird melodies and I feel that I have a unique lyrical sensibility. I tend to lean towards a rhythmic alternative country style.

What moments in your career stand out in your memory as highlights and achievements which you are proud of?

Taking the stage as the Opry as my debut is one of my favorite moments as a country artist. I got to bring my dad on stage which was really special.

When you get time off, how do you like to relax?

I love drinking a beer with my friends and going to the gym to clear my head.

What can your fans expect to see when they come to a show?

I always put my heart into my set. Fans can expect to see me sing from the soul and hopefully feel a connection to the music.

What message would you like to send your European fans?

You guys are an amazing audience. Every country artist should make their way to Europe because it’s completely worth it. Every time I visit, I’m already planning my next trip back. Can’t wait to meet you guys!
