make it your New Year’s Resolution to take your passion for music
and songwriting more seriously? Now is your chance. The Nashville
Convention & Visitors Corp. (CVC) is accepting entries for its
seventh annual Music
City Songwriting Competition until February 15. Elektra Nashville
recording artist, actress and songwriter Jana Kramer is serving as
the honorary ambassador of the competition and will offer a mentoring
session to the winner among other prizes.

The competition is open to amateur
songwriters only and will accept entries now through February 15,

The winning songwriter will receive a
$1,000 cash prize, two roundtrip Southwest Airlines® tickets
to Music City (winner and one (1) guest), and spend five nights at
the Renaissance Nashville Hotel downtown, with transportation
provided from Nashville International Airport to hotel and return
from hotel to airport. While in town, the winner will be interviewed
by Storme Warren host of GAC’s Headline Country and “Music Row
Happy Hour” on Sirius/XM Highway 59 Radio, interviewed on GAC TV to
run in a scheduled show, a showcase session at American Songwriter
office, and will have an interview featured in American Songwriter
Magazine. Jana Kramer will also offer a mentoring session and a
personalized autographed CD to the winner. The winning song will be
recorded during the taping of Sirius/XM Satellite Radio Show’s
“Music City Connection: Heroes Behind the Hits,” a monthly radio
show recorded and produced by the Nashville CVC, and the song will be
highlighted on Music City Radio, Nashville’s online radio station.
Additionally, the winner will receive a one-hour writing session with
a professional songwriter, and the opportunity to receive a single
song publishing deal. A Nashville Music City Gift Bag and a Backstage
Pass will be included, which offers complimentary admission for two
to more than 30 Nashville attractions.

top 25 finalists and posted on the MCSC website on or around the week
of March 4, 2014, which will then be judged by a panel of top names

Everyone who enters the Music City
Songwriting Competition will receive a copy of Jana Kramer’s
self-titled release, and the 25 finalists will also receive a
certificate of recognition, and a Music City Gift bag.
