Laci Kaye Booth sings I’m In Love With A Man, her new Geffen Records release

Laci Kaye Booth gets inside this love ballad and takes you on a breathless, sultry ride, atmospherically guiding the listener through the verses into the crushing chorus. A simple acoustic guitar and string line share the intro that announces the first verse,
“He noticed that my hair’s a little darker
And when I’m wrong, he always plays the martyr
He calls me back, he calls me Baby
And when I am, he don’t call me crazy
I love him, but he loves me even harder”
A beautiful progression of C# – F7- Bbm7 – F#, allows the lyric to hang on each chord, while Booth artfully sings this well written song, brimming with emotion. She paints a picture of a man who’s attentive, faithful and loving, but on the chorus she reveals the truth, “I’m in love with a man, he’ll never be.” By the time the acoustic driven bridge rolls around, Laci is questioning her allegiance to the relationship.
“Do I stay because I’m lonely, stupid, or sentimental?
Do I stay because I love you or just love your potential?
Either way, I’ll probably stay”
Geffen Records artist, Booth wrote the song with Tofer Brown (Little Big Town, Jon Pardi) and Lauren Hungate (Vincent Mason, Bailey Zimmerman). Ben West (Stephen Wilson Jr., Patrick Droney), who helmed Booth’s debut album, The Loneliest Girl In The World, produced the track. Laci Kaye Booth offers this, “I played this song at the Bluebird Café in Nashville the same week that I wrote it and I knew from the energy and reaction alone that this was a song people needed as much as I needed to write it. I’m In Love With A Man is like a love story with a twisted ending. A heartbreaking, psychological thriller of a song. I’m very grateful I got to write it with my talented friends, Tofer Brown & Lauren Hungate.”
Raised in a barn in Livingston, TX and now based in Nashville, Laci Kaye Booth started writing her own songs at age nine. Named one of CMT’s Next Women of Country and SiriusXM The Highway’s, Highway Find, she spent much of 2024 on the road including shows with Flatland Cavalry, Parker McCollum, Kameron Marlowe and more. After she released her debut album, The Loneliest Girl In The World, in the spring of 2024, Billboard hailed Booth as “one of the genre’s brightest newcomers.” Atwood Magazine praised the album as “an insightful, soulful, and lyrically smart record…a triumph.” Country Now said it “represents Booth’s reemergence with a newfound clarity and determination to showcase her talent.” The Los Angeles Times observed, “The most impressive LP from a new(-ish) country act so far this year, The Loneliest Girl in the World teems with vivid songwriting.”
