LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY — In ceremonies today at WKYT-TV (CBS) in Lexington, The Kentucky HeadHunters were named among the 2013 inductees into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame.

In all, seven Kentucky born groups / artists will be inducted, also including Exile, The Hilltoppers, Steven Curtis Chapman, Skeeter Davis, Old Joe Clark and Emory & Linda Lou Martin.

“I can’t tell you what an honor this is for us,” said Richard Young of the Kentucky HeadHunters, who were on hand for the announcement.  “We’re obviously proud to be from Kentucky, and this kind of recognition with this group of people is such a privilege.”

The Kentucky HeadHunters have been touring of late in support of their new album, Dixie Lullabies, their first in 8 years.

Ray Waddell of Billboard Magazine called the group “the most consistent and durable Southern rock outfit on the planet,” and Steve Wine with Associated Press echoed  “This is ramshackle rock for toe-tapping and keg tapping.”

On Dixie Lullabies,  The Kentucky HeadHunters take a look at where they were, where they are and where they’re headed  on Dixie Lullabies.   The multi-platinum Grammy-winning HeadHunters has been touring constantly with massive hits like “Dumas  Walker”, “Walk Softly On This Heart of Mine” and “Oh Lonesome Me,” and on Dixie Lullabies they remain true to themselves, blending elements of Blues, Country, English Rock, Rockabilly, Jazz, and, of course, Southern Rock.

This year’s inductees include a smattering of seven native Kentucky artist with worldwide influence spanning the Christian, Rock and traditional Country music genres.  Past inductees include music legends such as Loretta Lynn, Patty Loveless, Steve Wariner, Keith Whitley, Crystal Gayle, Dwight Yoakam, Wynonna & Naomi Judd, Ricky Skaggs, Tom T. Hall, Bill Monroe and many more.

Bridging the gape between music and healthcare once again Rockcastle Regional Hospital and University of Kentucky Healthcare will be title sponsors of the upcoming Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and Museum Induction Ceremony to be held April 12, 2013.

The Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and Museum exists both to honor native Kentucky music professionals who have made significant contributions to the music industry in Kentucky and around the world and to be an educational source for anyone desiring to increase their knowledge of Kentucky’s music.
