JOAN OSBORNE’S BRING IT ON HOME
DRAWS RAVES FROM CRITICS AND MUSICIANS

New Album Available At All Major Retailers
Including Select Whole Foods Locations;
National Tour Kicks Off This Week

Fairfax, VA (March 27, 2012) — The buzz surrounding Joan Osborne’s newest album, Bring It On Home, keeps growing as critics and her fellow musicians rave about the singer’s powerful interpretations of blues and classic rhythm & blues songs.  Osborne recently previewed Bring It On Home on CBS This Morning (http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7403118n), whose hosts noted that “with her strong, sultry voice, she certainly knows how to bring it home.”  Bring It On Home is available today at all major retailers including select Whole Foods locations just as Joan kicks off a North American tour with a pair of concerts at New York’s City Winery.

The New York Daily News named the album to its “Top Ten” in music list, noting that “she recasts the blues with her own grind and shout” and the New Yorker delighted in her “voice containing a rich mixture of colors….now she’s come back to the blues.”  American Songwriter magazine added, “…Osborne injects tremendous passion into sides originally recorded by Ray Charles, Sonny Boy Williamson, Al Green, Otis Redding and others. When she digs into John Mayall’s slow blues ‘Broken Wings,’ the emotional torrent obscured in the original is brought to the surface through her fiery vocals.”  And No Depression marveled, “Joan Osborne has a real hot record here. She has given the Blues a shot this time and, boy, it really works for her.”  Even London’s Daily Express newspaper weighed in, describing, “Her voice is beautifully bluesy and wonderfully expressive while the music is soulful, sophisticated and slightly retro sounding, meaning the package reeks class as it moves between rowdy versions of songs such as ‘Shoorah! Shoorah!’ to deep soul versions of ‘The Same Love That Made Me Laugh.’”

Bring It On Home has also struck a chord with the artists who know these songs better than anyone else.  Betty Wright, who hit big with the original version of “Shoorah! Shoorah!,” remarked, “It’s truly time for the song again…(Joan has) sweetly read the guy in the song his bill of rights!”  After hearing Joan’s take on his “Broken Wings,” John Mayall enthused, “I’m very impressed with the track and particularly Joan’s vocals; very heartfelt.”

Joan Osborne has sold millions of albums and garnered multiple Grammy nominations throughout her critically and commercially acclaimed career.  In addition to her own headlining tours, she has sung lead vocals for The Dead (formerly the Grateful Dead) and won a Grammy for her performance in the award-winning film Standing In The Shadows of Motown.
