Jason Isbell 2026 Tour

Jason Isbell Launches Massive 2026 Tour Featuring The 400 Unit and Solo Acoustic Dates

By Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine

Six-time GRAMMY winner Jason Isbell is set to embark on an extensive 2026 North American tour, which will feature a blend of full-band performances with his acclaimed group, The 400 Unit, and intimate, previously announced solo acoustic nights. This ambitious itinerary follows a period of high productivity for the celebrated songwriter, coming off the success of his annual fall Ryman Auditorium residency and the recent celebration of his ShoalsFest in Alabama.

The tour kicks off on January 23rd, 2026, in Seattle, Washington, and promises to be a comprehensive showcase of Isbell’s diverse musical mastery, ranging from the raw power of his band to the stripped-back vulnerability of his solo acoustic material.

️ A Tour Through Hallowed Venues

The 2026 run sees Isbell and The 400 Unit stopping through some of America’s most revered concert halls. The full-band experience, which typically delivers an electrifying mix of Southern rock energy and Americana songwriting, includes a stop at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles and the Fox Theater in Oakland.

A major highlight of the tour will be the band’s return to the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, on May 2nd, 2026. This iconic outdoor performance will be made even more special with support from the masterful folk duo Gillian Welch & David Rawlings.

Dual Performances in the Big Apple

A standout engagement on the schedule is a two-night residency at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, following a sold-out show there in 2024 supporting his double GRAMMY-winning album, Weathervanes.

  • Friday, February 20th: Isbell will perform a solo acoustic set, supported by the distinctive sound of Shelby Lynne.

  • Saturday, February 21st: He will be joined by The 400 Unit, with opening support from singer-songwriter Alejandro Escovedo.

This dual approach offers fans a rare opportunity to experience the contrasting facets of Isbell’s artistry in one of the world’s most iconic venues.

The Two Sides of Jason Isbell: Solo and The 400 Unit

The tour’s format mirrors Isbell’s recent creative output, balancing the raw, personal focus of his latest acoustic work with the collaborative power of his band.

Foxes in the Snow: The Acoustic Triumph

The North American solo dates are in support of Isbell’s acoustic album, Foxes in the Snow, released in March 2025 on his own Southeastern Records. The record—his first solo acoustic album—captures the artist at a remarkable peak.

Released in the wake of significant personal change, the stripped-back, bare-bones format of Foxes in the Snow puts his immense talent for evocative storytelling and virtuosic guitar playing on full display. The album was recorded in just five days, relying solely on Isbell’s voice and a 1940 Martin guitar. This collection of songs, produced by Isbell and Gena Johnson, is a commanding demonstration of his craft, focusing on poignant, heartfelt narratives.

Something More Than Free: A Decade of Mastery

Isbell has also recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of his critically-acclaimed, GRAMMY-winning studio album, Something More Than Free. The album was reissued in July on Southeastern Records, featuring a newly remastered edition with updated mixes and a previously unreleased B-side, “Should I Go Missing.” This reissue reminds fans of the deep catalog that the full band shows, with The 400 Unit, will draw from.
