Jamie O’Neal Gypsum Concert

Jamie O’Neal Finds Serenity and Soul in Upcoming Sixth Studio Album, ‘Gypsum’

By Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine

Four-time GRAMMY nominee Jamie O’Neal is ready to paint the country music landscape with the colors of the American West. On January 23, 2026, the powerhouse vocalist will release her highly anticipated sixth studio album, Gypsum, via BFD/Audium Nashville.

Inspired by the ethereal beauty of White Sands National Park, the 10-track collection marks a triumphant return for the artist who first captivated audiences with #1 hits like “There Is No Arizona” and “When I Think About Angels.”

A Night at the Neon Steeple: The Album Release Party

To celebrate the launch, O’Neal will take the stage at Nashville’s premier new venue, the Neon Steeple at Chief’s on Broadway, on January 21.

Fans can expect an intimate, first-hand look at the new material in a setting that matches the high-caliber artistry of the record.

  • Time: 7:30 p.m.

  • Tickets: Reserved seating starts at $30.

  • Location: Chief’s on Broadway, Nashville, TN.

The Inspiration: From White Sands to the Studio

The title Gypsum isn’t just a name; it’s a reflection of a landscape that moved the singer-songwriter deeply.

“My new album Gypsum is named for the sand dunes in White Sands National Park, one of the most beautiful and serene, other-worldly places I’ve ever been to,” says Jamie O’Neal. “I have an affinity for the west—the mountains, red rocks, sand dunes, and wide-open spaces inspired a lot of this album.”

Jamie took the helm as producer alongside Rodney Good, who recorded and mixed the entire project. Together, they curated a sound that balances O’Neal’s legendary vocal range with the raw, organic energy of live studio musicians.

New Single Alert: “Just Whiskey”

Available starting January 9, 2026, the latest single, “Just Whiskey,” showcases O’Neal’s ability to weave complex narratives. While it may sound like a classic “cheating song” on the surface, the lyrics dive much deeper.

“‘Just Whiskey’ sounds like I’m singing to a nemesis, as if it’s a mistress seducing my man, but it’s really about fighting the monster that is alcoholism,” O’Neal explains. “I love the powerful nature of this song!”

This follows the success of the first single, “Ole Heartache,” which earned high praise from Music Row Magazine’s Robert K. Oermann, who called it “Country music eloquence” and noted its “lonesome blues” and “terrific vocal performance.”

A Collaborative Masterpiece

The tracklist for Gypsum features a “who’s who” of Nashville songwriting royalty. Jamie co-wrote six of the ten songs, collaborating with hitmakers like Shaye Smith, Ed Hill, and Ilya Toshinsky.

The album also features:

  • “All The Same”: Penned by Country Music Hall of Famer Dean Dillon and Scotty Emerick.

  • “Flowers & Fireflies”: A deeply personal inclusion written by Jamie’s late sister, Samantha Murphy.

  • “Change It Now”: Written by Kevin Doherty and Bob Regan.
