Interview with Smoking Guns
by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
Christian Lamitschka: I’m Christian Lamitschka and today I present you Smoking Guns. Smoking Guns are: Jason Thomas and Travis Powel. I know you have a lot of fun on stage. Please tell us something about it.
Smoking Guns: (Jason) Travis and I are doing a Tour this year and it’s called Smoking Guns Tour. We just have a good time. (Travis) We both have a lot of energy. I think that comes out when we play life. We want to people in the seats to have just as much as we’re having on stage. If we give them a hundred percent, I think they give us a hundred percent. Most of the time if we give them a hundred percent, they give you a hundred-and-ten. It’s kind of a everybody works both ways, both of and the crowd to have a great night. It’s very upbeat. We like to do ballads and love songs too. We like upbeat, like we’re in a party.
Christian Lamitschka: I know there are little things going around you, can you tell us some of the news?
Smoking Guns: (Jason) We have been in the studio a lot, it’s been days and weeks we’ve in the studio. We’ve been writing songs. We have been recording a lot and Travis and I use the same studio. We have some really cool music fixing to come out, it’s a good blend. It’s country, it’s rock, it’s pop and I think that’s what’s exciting and I have never been so excited with the new stuff we got coming out.
Christian Lamitschka: How did you two meet?
Smoking Guns: We met thru a mutual friend, a songwriter we both like to hang out with and when I heard Jason the first time, I liked his energy. It’’ hard when you do tour stuff to find people that you can work with, have fun with, get along with, and can work well with each other. That basically, Jason and me have that in each other. We believe in each other. That’s the main thing. We’re just opposite enough that we work well enough. Both of us don’t sound the same. Two different sound, but all in all we have the same outlook, bring good music to the people.
Christian Lamitschka: Does Smoking Guns have they’re own website:
Smoking Guns: We do, it’s www.smokinggunstour.com
Christian Lamitschka: What will people find there?
Smoking Guns: Pictures, some music. On Facebook, U Tube.
Christian Lamitschka: Girls would like to know, are you married or are you single?
Smoking Guns: No, no, no. (Jason) I’m by myself and I love female fans.
Christian Lamitschka: Tell me a little bit more about what is the next big project you’re working on.
Smoking Guns: Jason just released a single this week, mine comes out in April or May. We’re both got some opening dates. Working on some baseball stuff, maybe some baseball stadiums. We want to go everywhere, everywhere people would have us. We got a date in Florida in Orlando in May. Jacksonville, we want to take and see everybody. We love to meet everybody. We’ll sign autographs, sign pictures even if it’s three hours. When can we come to Germany? Can you make that happen?
Christian Lamitschka: Oh that would be nice.
Smoking Guns: Can you make that happen?
Christian Lamitschka: Maybe be, let’s see what I can bring on the table. Let me ask you. What is so unique about you between Duo Artists or other bands.
Smoking Guns: What makes us different, is we love a good time; and it shows.
