Interview with Matt Bailie

Christian Lamitschka: What kind of songs do you like to record the most?
Matt Bailie: I am a sucker for Love songs and ballads I’m always finding myself writing them and asking publishing companies for them, but I also l love writing and recording up-tempo fun songs!
Christian Lamitschka: What’s your favorite song among all the songs you’ve recorded and what’s the story behind it?
Matt Bailie: I have many favorite songs but I would  say its  “Man Behind these Eyes.” It’s a song a started to write with a great friend, and is close to my heart being about my father who passed away when I was young and had a lot of feelings while recording this song !
Christian Lamitschka: How much creative control do you have over your music?
Matt Bailie:  I have a lot of control over what music I record and what play in my live show, I have a lot control over my over all career !
Christian Lamitschka: Do you have any interesting stories about how fans have been affected by your music?
Matt Bailie: yes I have fans who all the time tell me how my music has helped them or touched them in some way and as a song writer it makes you feel good    that your songs make people feel !
Christian Lamitschka: Who do you look up musically and how deep do your musical roots run?
Matt Bailie:  well my background goes from Garth Brooks to lynyrd skynyrd to The Goo Goo Dolls all the way t Elvis my music has always been influenced by a wide horizon of music.
Christian Lamitschka: What do you think about today’s Country Music versus its roots and where do you see it
going in the future?
Matt Bailie: being a younger artist I am Todays country music I think country music’s roots has created Todays music!
Christian Lamitschka: As an artist you have to do so many different things such as recording, touring, doing
Interviews etc. What do you like best, what is your favorite activity?
Matt Bailie: Being on Tour is my favorite by far the energy, playing my music for thousands of fans there’s nothing more rewarding than stepping on stage and looking into the crowd after working all year on your album and months of rehearsal and just seeing it all come together !
Christian Lamitschka: What inspired you to become an artist?
Matt Bailie: it was a Garth Brooks special on TV and I remember seeing his Energy and I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen, what sealed the deal was watch my friend Donnie VanZant  step out on stage with his band 38 special and I felt the crowds energy and I was hooked !
Christian Lamitschka: What drives you?
Matt Bailie: My family and friends and the Fans !
Christian Lamitschka: Who’s your biggest critic, yourself or others?
Matt Bailie:  I am by far my self’s worst critic and my mom and grandma are my biggest critics!
Christian Lamitschka: When you get time off, how do you like to relax?
Matt Bailie: I love the beach being raised in Florida i find myself going to the Florida Keys where it is quite and there is nothing but sand and clear water!
Christian Lamitschka: Many European fans travel to Nashville for CMA Music Festival (Fan Fair), because of the opportunity to see so many of their favorite stars at the same time. Will you be participating and how will the fans be able to find you?
Christian Lamitschka: What can your fans expect to see when they see you in concert?
Matt Bailie: Every night is a new show and a new experience with the crowd just expect t have a lot of fun the more fun the crowd has the more fun I will have !
Christian Lamitschka: When you’re on tour, do you have time to play tourist?
Matt Bailie: no never its off the bus and on the stage and back on the bus to head out !
Christian Lamitschka: Do fans mob you everywhere you go or do they allow you a private life?
Matt Bailie: people are used t seeing stars in Nashville so people seem t leave you be. but my hometown I can’t seem to go anywhere without somebody saying something and that’s ok but sometimes I’d like to just be home and talk about anything but music !
Christian Lamitschka: Many music fans today get their information about artists via the internet. Do you have your own website and what will fans find there?
Matt Bailie: yes its www.mattbailiemusic.com !
Christian Lamitschka: What message would you like to send your European fans?
Matt Bailie:  I’d love to tour Europe at some point!
