Houston Bernard Interview by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

Lamitschka:  Music has many new fans throughout Europe who may be hearing about you for the first time. How would you describe yourself and the music you play to someone who has never seen
or heard you?

Answer: Thats
a good question, and one I often have difficulty answering. I think the
simple answer is Country Rock. We have big guitars on occasion, a lot
of it is uptempo, but they are true stories and we have elements of
traditional sounding country mixed in with some modern country and a
rock aesthetic. I would love your thoughts on it.

Lamitschka:  How was the last year for you? What were your highlights?

Answer:  2019
has been great for us, it seems like more and more opportunities are
opening for us. We are an independant country act so we have those
challenges, but we are doing more fly out dates and some short tours
around the United States. We have released 2 singles this year along
with videos that have been distributed all over the world. We have had
some interest in touring Europe, but nothing solid yet.

Lamitschka:  What is your latest CD and how is it doing?

Answer: Our latest album is “Lucky Man” it is doing well, better than expected for an independent act.
Lamitschka:  How did you choose the title for the CD?  Is there a story behind the name?

Answer: It is simple really, I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to play
music for people as I have performed many genres over the years, but
nothing ever felt like home, as does country music. My father and my
uncle were professional musicians in Oklahoma and Nashville for many
years, so I put playing country music off for a long time. But, since I
started playing, I have really appreciated and found I was a “Lucky Man”
to have this opportunity and I will keep playing as long as you want to
hear me.

Lamitschka:  Do you write the songs yourself? If not, how do you go about finding the songs for your CD?

Answer: I
write or co-write most of the songs, or I ask writers I write with if
they have anything they think that might fit me. I love singing other
peoples songs in a different way than I like singing the songs I write.

Lamitschka:  What is the difference between your last CD and your current one?

Answer: The
last CD was rushed, we had a deadline and I think if we took more time
the production value would have been higher. Also, I wrote all of the
songs, and co-wrote a couple with our last drummer. Very different, but I
love those songs too.

Lamitschka:  What will your next single be?

Answer: The
next single is “NEVER GROW OLD” its a perfect song for my story, still
following my dreams, after 3 country albums, I still have a fire and
drive to keep creating and performing. I encourage everyone to follow
their dreams, and enjoy the journey.
