HARDY & Lainey Wilson Wait In The Truck At Tribeca Festival

Sometimes a music video is more than just some moving pictures to promote a song and entertain the artist’s fans.

That’s the case with the “wait in the truck” video for the song of the same name from HARDY and Lainey Wilson.  Already an ACM-winning Platinum No. 1 hit, the official music video for the game-changing murder ballad will be screened as an official selection at the prestigious 2023 Tribeca Festival, set for June 7 – 18, 2023 and held and various venues in New York City. “wait in the truck” is one of the only country music videos to screen at the festival in its 22-year history.

Michael Hardy moved from Philadelphia, Mississippi to the Nashville area, attending Middle Tennessee State University, initially studying Recording Industry Management and graduating with a degree in songwriting. He established a career as a successful songwriter (co-writing hits for the likes of Florida Georgia Line and Morgan Wallen).  Meanwhile, he was releasing his own songs under the single name HARDY that quickly marked him as a unique vocal talent, delivering his own lyrics on albums such as the critically-acclaimed the mockingbird & THE CROW.

“It’s amazing to see how far this song has taken us so far,” HARDY said, referring to “wait in the truck.” “I’m grateful that it’s resonated with people and happy to see that story songs like this have a place still in country music and beyond. Thank you to the Tribeca Festival for having us, it’s so cool to be included.”

Lainey Wilson also expressed how she has been touched by the reaction the song and video have received since it premiered.

“It’s an absolute honor to be a part of one of the only country music videos to debut at the Tribeca Film Festival,” Wilson said, adding. “HARDY is a big brother to me and I’m forever thankful that he brought me into this ballad. This song embodies country music, with difficult topics and real-life situations that people can relate to.”

The music video for “wait in the truck” was directed by Justin Clough, known for videos he has created Caylee Hammack, Lee Brice and Morgan Wallen, in addition to HARDY.

“It’s really a huge accomplishment to make it to Tribeca, not just for myself but for all cast and crew involved,” said Clough, who will make his Tribeca debut with “wait in the truck.” “Tribeca wasn’t something that was in the picture during production, so for it to have gotten to this point, and have been officially selected, is really a crazy thought. I’m grateful for the love that we’ve received, and I’m excited to attend and meet the other talented filmmakers that have also been selected.”

Showing three times throughout the June 7-18 New York City festival, the ACM Visual Media of the Year and CMT Collaborative Video of the Year award winner continues its impressive run alongside official music videos from Lizzo (“Special”), The Black Keys (“Wild Child”), and just five other national and international selections.

“wait in the truck” has been viewed over 45 million times on YouTube alone, named one of the best songs all-genre of 2022 by Los Angeles Times, Billboard, American Songwriter, Holler, and more. The RIAA platinum certified bombshell topped the Mediabase country chart and helped make HARDY & Wilson the two most-awarded artists at the 2023 ACM Awards.
