Hanne Boudreaux Over You

Hanne Boudreaux pours her heart out Over You

By Alan Shipston for Country Music News International Magazine

Hanne Boudreaux brings a heartfelt country ballad full of broken hearts and regret with her new single, Over You.  It’s a sad, melancholy tale that describes the post breakup period in all its despondent glory while Hanne wistfully sings in a quiet, lonesome voice.  As she draws you into the song, you can hear the honesty of pain reluctantly showing up in her vocal, the product of love lost and never to be found again.  Acoustic guitar and steel swell through the intro waiting for Boudreaux to tell the tale of some poor guy who’s been left behind, having done something heart wrenching to deserve a lyric like,

From my phone and left your t-shirts

Using a traditional chord progression wrapped around a sparse arrangement, the steel guitar fills the vocal holes in the verse.  Boudreaux laments about how the memories of her past lover are still strong forcing her to write “another sad, sad song.”  As unhappy as the lyric is, Hanne manages to lift her clear voice above the gloom to shine in the harmonized chorus,

Why did I fall

For someone who is not about to give his heart at all

How could I be so wrong about a man who felt so true

I’m tryin’ to be okay, but I’m not over you

Over You was written by Boudreaux and Bjorn Nilsen, with Nilsen handling the production recorded at Coastal Sounds Studio.  Singer/songwriter Hanne Boudreaux is from Oslo, Norway and has released several singles including her 2025 song, Doors Swing Both Ways, a duet featuring Odin Brennhaug.  Her first offering, How It Feels To Be Loved, found critical acclaim.  Here’s what Boudreaux had to say about that tune, “I am completely overwhelmed by all the attention I have received for my debut single.  The fact that there are folks all over the world listening to my song is just surreal.  I don’t even know how to process that.  What I do know is that I am so lucky to have been given the opportunity to work with Bjorn Nilsen, who has made my little song come to life.”

Hanne Boudreaux has captivated audiences with her defining vocals and emotional depth through her lyrics.  Her fruitful recording career will surely add to her growing fan base.
