Penrod reveals his Grandfather’s final words of advice, and explains how those words would motivate him to take a huge chance with his career. “After a very successful 14-year run with The Gaither Vocal Band, I opted to do something I had wanted to do for 22 years,” Guy says. “I stepped out on my own and made a country album, BREATHE DEEP.”
The feature offers insights into the challenges Guy faced in going out on his own; how he chose the disc’s songs; his approach to country music, and his thoughts on where that music will take him. The new CD is country – and it’s a resounding success, earning high sales figures, accolades galore, and two solo artist Dove Award nominations (2010) for Guy (Country Album of the Year, Country Recorded Song of the Year).
