Grady McAuliffe, the burgeoning talent signed to Pilot Light Records, is making waves with the release of his new country rock single, “On the Edge,” and its accompanying music video. This marks a significant step in his career, showcasing his unique “northern country” sound and solidifying his presence in the music industry.

“On the Edge,” released on March 7, 2025, has swiftly climbed the Hot Disc radio chart, currently sitting at an impressive #4. The single’s rapid ascent is a testament to its compelling blend of modern country storytelling and McAuliffe’s rock-infused sensibilities.

The music video for “On the Edge,” premiered exclusively by Hot Disc and All Country Radio, is now available on Grady McAuliffe’s YouTube channel. The video, directed and edited by John Shyloski, captures the raw energy of McAuliffe’s live performance at Factory Underground Studio in Norwalk, CT. The band, featuring Joel P Kelley on electric guitar, Tim Cole on pedal steel, Adam Solinas on bass, and Jay Bremen on drums, delivers a captivating performance that perfectly complements the song’s driving rhythm and heartfelt lyrics. The video is also gaining traction on key music industry websites, including American Airplay, and is slated for release on VEVO later this month.

“On the Edge” is McAuliffe’s debut release on Pilot Light Records, an independent label based in Norwalk, CT. The song encapsulates McAuliffe’s distinctive “northern country” style, a fusion of contemporary country storytelling and his rock roots. This blend has resonated with audiences, drawing comparisons to outlaw country and southern rock.

McAuliffe’s musical journey is a testament to his versatility and passion. He initially honed his skills as a rock musician, drawing inspiration from the 1960s and 1970s rock legends and the grunge era of the 1990s, with bands like Nirvana and Soundgarden. However, his visits to Nashville over the past decade exposed him to the country sound, particularly the pedal steel guitar, which he found surprisingly compatible with his songwriting and vocal style.

This realization led to the creation of his “northern country” sound, a style that has found a receptive audience among fans of both country and rock. The enthusiastic response his band received while performing on the Main Stage at Daytona Bike Week in Daytona, Florida, on March 3rd and 5th, 2025, further validated this unique blend.

“Apparently we were a hit with the beer drinking bikers in Daytona. That felt really good. When they like you, they really let you know it. And they let you know it, when they don’t,” McAuliffe said. “Rock or Country, we’re an American band, playing music from the heart. People respond to that.”

McAuliffe’s earlier success with the song “All Time Low,” which secured a sync placement in a Christmas movie based on the Heartland television show, marked his initial foray into commercial songwriting. However, life took a detour as he focused on his painting business and family.

“After the success of my song being used in Heartland, I had gotten married, and really buckled down on running a painting business, and raising a family. My business was successful, and still is. I don’t have many regrets about that. I have a strong work ethic that I got from my Dad. But I had to tuck music into my back pocket for a while,” McAuliffe explained. “But I got to a point where I needed to start focusing on myself again. So much time had gone by and I needed music back in my life again.”

His return to music led him to Factory Underground Studio, where he met studio co-owner Ethan Isaac. Isaac, impressed by McAuliffe’s authentic songwriting, took on the role of producer. This collaboration, following Isaac’s production of Ashley Jo’s “northern country” album “Hand Me Down,” proved to be a natural fit.

“On the Edge” is their first collaborative effort, with more songs on the horizon. Their next single, “Paint it Up,” is slated for release in early spring 2025.

“This chapter isn’t just about making music—it’s about reclaiming my voice, reconnecting with my roots, and proving that some stories are never finished. I’m not just chasing a career, I’m following a deeper calling,” McAuliffe said.

Grady McAuliffe’s journey is one of rediscovery and artistic revitalization. With “On the Edge,” he has delivered a compelling single that showcases his unique sound and undeniable talent. As he continues to release new music and perform live, McAuliffe is poised to make a significant impact on the country rock scene.
