Legendary Latin
Clothing Designer Manuel to Help Lead Toast

Nashville, Tenn. May 3, 2012 ... Rising country artist Frank Ortega is once again gearing up to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in a big way by headlining the World's Largest Tequila Toast.

Saturday, May 5, on behalf of SOL restaurant in historical downtown Franklin, Tenn., Ortega will lead the toast in attempt to secure the world's largest Tequila toast ever. The toast is part of a Cinco de Mayo celebration in which Ortega will perform, as well as honor the legendary clothing designer, Manuel. This is the second consecutive year in which Ortega has headlined this particular event.
"I'm honored to be part of this celebration for the second year in a row, and I am excited to lead the way into the Guinness Book of World Records,” Ortega says. “If it’s anything like last year’s event, this is one party you don't want to miss."
The event will kick off at 4:00 PM local time in downtown Franklin with Ortega taking the stage soon after, performing many songs from his forthcoming new album. The event is expected to conclude around 9:00 PM, with the tequila toast taking place at 7:00 PM.
During last year’s performance and toast, Ortega surprised Manuel with an official proclamation declaring May 5 as Manuel Day in the town of Franklin. Manuel, along with Franklin, Tenn. Mayor Ken Moore, M.D., will be on hand to help Ortega kick off the toast.
The event is sponsored in part by Dos Equis Lager and Milagro Tequila, as well as Franklin Plastic Surgery, Nashville Scene, Red Pony, 55 South, My Second Home Pet Resort, Jay Jay’s and SOL.
Tickets to participate in the Tequila toast will cost $5.00, with proceeds being donated to the Mercy Children's Clinic of Franklin. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event or in advance at SOL restaurant, located at 108 Bridge Street in downtown Franklin.
Ortega has created quite a buzz in Nashville in recent years
with his independent single “Hot Women Cold Beer,” which was produced by Grammy
nominated singer/songwriter James House. The song went on to top the Indie
World
country music chart in 2009. His follow-up release, “Honky Tonk and
the Altar,” showed a different side to the Arizona native, as it received rave reviews
across the board within the country music industry. Ortega is currently in the
studio putting the finishing touches on his forthcoming new album, with its
upcoming single slated for release some time this summer.
