Ella Langley Makes History: “Choosin’ Texas” Hits #1 on Billboard Hot 100
By Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine
In a definitive moment for modern country music, Ella Langley has etched her name into the history books. Her viral smash hit “Choosin’ Texas” officially ascended to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, marking the first time the Alabama native has reached the pinnacle of the all-genre chart.
The achievement is more than just a personal milestone; it is a historic “triple crown.” Langley is now the first woman in history to simultaneously lead the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts. She joins an elite group of only three other artists to have ever accomplished this feat: Shaboozey (“A Bar Song (Tipsy)”), Post Malone feat. Morgan Wallen (“I Had Some Help”), and Morgan Wallen (“Last Night”).
The Story Behind the Smash
Co-written and produced by Langley alongside country icon Miranda Lambert, producer Ben West, and songwriters Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, “Choosin’ Texas” has become a global phenomenon. The track features Lambert on background vocals and has already surpassed 310 million worldwide streams, earning it an official RIAA Platinum certification.
Critics have lauded the song’s “lived-in storytelling,” with The New York Times, Billboard, and The Los Angeles Times naming it one of the Best Songs of 2025.
“This truly feels like a full circle moment,” Langley shared. “I am so thankful for the open doors and the chance to share this music.”
Looking Ahead: Dandelion
The record-breaking single serves as the cornerstone for Langley’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Dandelion, scheduled for global release on April 10, 2026. Executive produced by Lambert and West, the album is described as a reflection on growth and resilience—symbolized by the hardy dandelion that thrives in harsh conditions.
The Dandelion Tour & 2026 Schedule
To celebrate the new era, Langley will launch ‘The Dandelion Tour’ this May. The headlining run will feature a rotating cast of support acts, including Kameron Marlowe, Dylan Marlowe, Kaitlin Butts, Gabriella Rose, and Laci Kaye Booth.
Before her headlining trek, Langley will make her Stagecoach debut this April and continue her high-profile supporting slots on Eric Church’s ‘Free The Machine Tour’ and Morgan Wallen’s ‘Still The Problem Tour’.
