In a career defined by “firsts,” platinum records, and an unshakable spirit of optimism, country music royalty Donna Fargo is set to add a crowning achievement to her legendary legacy. On January 25, 2026, Fargo will be honored as an “Icon” for women worldwide at the annual Women in Film & Television (WIFT) Nashville Alice Awards Ceremony.

The formal gala, held at the historic PBS Studios in Nashville, serves as a beacon for celebrating the monumental contributions of women both in front of the lens and behind the scenes.

A Heartfelt Gratitude

Upon hearing the news of her selection, the “Happiest Girl in the Whole USA” shared her characteristic warmth and humility.

“I am so delighted, grateful, and honored to receive this icon award,” states Fargo. “It’s a beautiful surprise for my heart and life, and I thank everyone at the Alice Awards organization for this recognition.”

A Trailblazer in Every Medium

The Icon Award is not merely a reflection of Fargo’s musical success, but a nod to her versatile mastery of the entertainment industry. Fargo is a rare talent who has navigated every facet of the business:

  • Television: She hosted her own successful syndicated variety program, The Donna Fargo Show, and has guest-starred on numerous hit series.

  • Music: A Grammy winner and songwriter, she was the first woman in country music history to achieve back-to-back million-selling singles (The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A. and Funny Face).

  • Literature: Beyond her inspirational books and greeting cards with Blue Mountain Arts, Fargo recently released her first novel, Heartaches and Mind Storms, which is currently receiving rave reviews.

  • Education: Before her rise to stardom, Fargo was an educator, and she has maintained a lifelong commitment to mentoring the next generation of artists.

Her signature song continues to resonate across generations, appearing in modern media as recently as last year in the HBO series Six Feet Under.

The 2026 Alice Awards Cohort

Named after Alice Guy-Blaché, the world’s first female director and a pioneer in sound and color experimentation, the Alice Awards celebrate risk-takers. Joining Fargo on this prestigious night of honors are:

  • Becky Magura: PBS Executive

  • Carolyn McDonald: Award-winning Producer

  • Deborah Allen: Songwriter and Pioneer Recipient

  • Cara Christina Contreras: Actor, Writer, and Producer

  • Patti Price: Feature Film Producer

Current Success and Availability

Fargo remains as relevant today as she was at the start of her career. Her recent single, “You Can Count On Me,” is currently soaring at number 4 on the Cashbox charts, proving that her “trademark sound”—forged alongside her late husband and producer, Stan Silver—remains timeless.

Whether through her six Million-Air Awards, her induction into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame, or her chart-topping new novel, Donna Fargo continues to prove that she is “distinctively Donna”—a one-of-a-kind inspiration to women everywhere.
