Dirty Things Proves to be McKenzies Mills Ticket to Paradise
McKenzies
Mill, the North Carolina reared southern rockin’ country duo, closes 2012 with a double shot of wins with their first stop at the Bud Light Port Paradise Music Festival this weekend. The Bud Light Port Paradise performance was the grand prize in a fan voted contest sponsored by Bud Light, Facebook and Sonicbids.
“We’ve
always known we had a very strong fan base, but winning a nationwide, fan voted opportunity like this, where we were up against such strong competition, really puts it in perspective,” says vocalist/guitarist Justin Harris. “We are obviously very pumped to have this opportunity”
The duo of brothers, Justin and Ryan, will be joining Brad Paisley, The All American Rejects and the Far East Movement
on the line up at the Bud Light Port Paradise Music Festival. The winning didn’t stop there. The duo also entered a battle of the bands sponsored by MGM Grand, Country Jam, Crown Royal, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill and Roper Apparel. Fighting through three rounds of hopefuls, the duo traveled to Minneapolis and Dallas for the competition. “We were kinda behind the eight ball in Minneapolis with an early time slot, but thankfully we were able to overcome that and advance to the finals,” recalls Ryan. “Hanging with Cowboy Troy was a blast, too. He seemed to really dig our brand of country music.” The grand prize win in Dallas secured the duo performances at the NFR Rodeo Finals in Vegas this December. Located at the luxurious MGM Grand, McKenzies Mill will be performing at an event featuring hit makers like Chris Young, Rodney Atkins and David Nail. In addition to the Vegas performance, they have dates that have yet to be determined at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grills across the US, main stage performances at Country Jam in both WI and CO, and received a $10,000 shopping spree courtesy of Roper Apparel.
“It’s
definitely been a rollercoaster ride for us this year and to see these results is more than we could have asked for,” says Justin. “We look forward to seeing our fans and making news ones on the road.” |

slinging Justin Harris and rowdy vocalist Ryan Harris make up the brother duo McKenzies Mill, who are making a name for themselves in Music City stomping out their southern fried rock-n-roll. Reared in central North Carolina, their sibling Tar Heel harmonies and relentless energy fueled the rabid fan base that lead them to two wins at pivotal “Battle of the Bands” style opportunities throughout 2012. McKenzies Mill’s gravel slinging attitude and pop-a-top tunes have been featured at NASCAR’s Speed Street Fest in Charlotte, NC and the esteemed BayFest in Mobile, AL in addition to playing alongside Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
