the spirit of the original recording, which was first released in 1995
by Country/Rock band The Tractors. The entertaining holiday track was a
natural fit for the Australian-born singer-songwriter, who also happens
to be a gifted guitar player.
“I wanted to record a song
that was full of dancing, fun and energy while still keeping the true
meaning of Christmas at heart,” says Morrison. “What we ended up with
is a rockin’ version of ‘Santa Claus Boogie’ – Craig Morrison Country
style!”
Morrison released his first U.S. single, “Fences,” to
Country radio earlier this year, posting a solid debut on the national
MusicRow Country Breakout chart. Both “Fences” and “Santa Claus
Boogie” were produced by Grammy-nominated Nashville producer and fellow
Aussie Mark Moffatt. Moffatt also produced Morrison’s self-titled 2012 U.S. debut album, now available at iTunes, Amazon.com and GMVNashville.com.
To date, Morrison has balanced successful
careers in both the U.S. and his native Australia, where his “Just
Another Sundown” single peaked at No. 4 earlier this year on the
Australian charts. In 2011, “Hot Kinda Love” took home Country Song of
the Year at the Australian Songwriter’s Awards, and in 2012, Morrison
was chosen as Male Artist of the Year at the Central Coast Country Music
Festival.
The Sydney native is preparing to kick off 2013 with
a new single release and U.S. radio tour, followed by a three-week run
of shows and festival appearances in Australia. Morrison will continue
his overseas tour in April with a handful of performances in France.
