Anthony Howell on Country Music News International Radio Show!

Anthony is an impressive young banjo player from a little town in central Mississippi called Zama. His biggest music influences include Jens Krüger, Larry Wallace, Bill Emerson, Don Reno, Tony Rice, and Jesse McReynolds.

He started taking mandolin lessons, from Alan Sibley, at age 11 but soon progressed to the guitar and banjo by age 13. In 2015 Anthony went on to play banjo with a local band called Tyler Carroll and Pineridge for 3 years until he got offered a job with a family bluegrass band called Williamson Branch where he stayed for almost 5 years. Howell now tours with The Edgar Loudermilk Band and has since October of 2022.

Jason Byrd was just 19 years old when he followed in his family’s footsteps and became a fireman. But there was another fire that burned within him, and that was music. In the early nineties, Byrd found himself balancing a career in the fire department with a career in Music City, traveling the 490 miles each way with the determination to make both of his dreams come true. Yet, in many ways, it wasn’t until the day that Byrd met the legendary George Jones that the trajectory of his entire career forever changed. Soon, small gigs at local bars and honkytonks turned into major opportunities on stages across the country, opening for powerhouse artists such as TracyLawrence, Loretta Lynn, and Dierks Bentley.

SpringStreet started in 1990 as a dream of members Mike Williams and Dan Nieto. They had gone to see Bill Monroe & The Bluegrass Boys perform at The Auditorium in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Inspired by this performance to start a musical career of their own, they chose the band name “SpringStreet” after the city street where The Auditorium was located. More than thirty years later, SpringStreet is still going strong entertaining folks all over the country. Members now include Nick Alberty (mandolin / lead vocals), Steve Huhn (upright bass), Rick Morton (fiddle / vocals), along with original members Mike Williams (banjo / vocals) and Dan Nieto (guitar / lead vocals). They have also been an award winning band as a group and as individuals.
