Colin Hay Announces Vinyl Pressing of Gathering Mercury,
John McSherry’s At First Light Debuts Idir
Both Releases Available April 24
Over the course of a solo career that has spanned the decades since he made his musical mark on popular music as the front man of the multi-platinum selling Men at Work, Colin Hay has never delivered a finer, more keenly honed solo set than Gathering Mercury. In response to fan demand, Hay is releasing a limited edition version of Gathering Mercury on 180 gram vinyl in time for Record Store Day 2012. This 2011 release reveals Hay’s emotional depth and musical diversity and earned Hay appearances on TV appearances on Craig Ferguson, Ellen and CNN as well as an ARIA award nomination in Australia. The songs are deeply affecting but never maudlin. Despite the serious subject matter, they’re full of Hay’s usual optimism with arrangements featuring his quizzical, instantly recognizable tenor vocals supported by acoustic instruments and melodic electric guitar accents.
