Christina Taylor Interview by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

  1. Tell us about your new single “As Good As You Look” and the story behind the song.

“Good
As You Look” is a fun, uptempo song that talks about seeing somebody
that is very obviously gorgeous and oping that they love as good as they
look. I think we’ve all thought this a time or two!

2. How would you describe yourself and the music you play to someone who has never seen or heard you?

I would describe my music as Country/Rock music with some Soul.

3. Who inspires you musically and how deep do your musical roots run?

My
mom was a first chair French horn player, but that about as far as my
music roots run in my family! I grew up listening to all types of music.
My biggest influences are P!nk and Eric Church. They are
unapologetically real and raw and I strive to be like that in my career
and personal life every day.

4. What venue/location is at the top of your list to play?

I
would love to be able to play at the PNC Pavilion in my home town of
Charlotte, NC one day because that’s where I grew up watching all of my
favorite country artists play. I think it would be a pretty full circle
moment.

5. What inspired you to become a songwriter?

I
used to feel so inspired when I heard my favorite artists singing
lyrics that were exactly how I was feeling, they just put it into words
for me. I knew right away that I wanted to be able to do that for people
as well.

6. What drives you?

What
drives me is the possibility for my music to help people. I believe
music can be so healing for the soul, and I hope my music can help
people one day.

7. What’s your favorite song that you wish you could have recorded?

There are way too many to even choose. Pretty much any Eric Church song.

8. What kind of songs do you like to record the most?

I
love recording in general so really anything, I guess it just depends
on my mood. Sometimes I’m feeling cutting something super emotional, or
in this care, I just wanted to go in and record something really fun and
up beat.

9. Do you have any interesting stories about how fans have been affected by your music?

I
had a girl come to me and tell me that she had written the lyrics down
to my song “Don’t Look Good In Your T-Shirt Anymore” months before I
even released it when I had sang it at an open mic night and it helped
her move on from her broken relationship. She had waited months for it
to come out to tell me, and that really meant a lot to me as an artist
and a writer.

10. What are your dreams for the future?

I
hope that I one day have a big enough platform to help the world in
many different aspects. Climate control, poverty, health, just really
everything!
