Exploring long distance relationships have been recorded by numerous artists for years in the country market, but this release is uniquely about a real life husband and wife experience. Inspired by the early days of their romance, Chloe and James sing about driving long hours to meet up with each other for just a hug or a kiss. This is their first effort in the studio under the watchful eye of producer Rhys Zacher and they have come out with a mid tempo, guitar driven song based on the perennial favorite progression 1-5-6m-4.
Chloe and James Anderssen wrote this country rocker, leaning into jangly guitars right from the intro with an effective melodic riff that easily leads into the first verse. “Been too long since I’ve seen your face, today’s the day we’ll make it back to our place,” sings Chloe with a slight melancholy as she threads her way through the lyric that takes the listener on a familiar journey of geographic separation that ends in love.
“A thousand miles on a black top road, is driving through towns is like déjà vu and it’s all perfect, baby, just to get to you,” kicks off the harmonized chorus. Driving drums and bass propel the band through the infectious chorus as Chloe continues, “Your kisses and touches are on my mind, gonna lay in your lovin’ arms tonight, I’m driving these miles to you.” During the solo, the electric guitar borrows from the figure used in the beginning of the song, effectively reworking that harmonious theme. Overall the song has good production technique and sonically hits all the right spots, while making great use of a second chorus breakdown.
From the Upper Hunter Valley in New South Wales, Australia, Chloe and James are busy performing their down to earth style of country working to make every performance unforgettable. This debut single, released on RTC Records, is sure to bring new fans and help launch their recording career.
