CD Review: Charlene Keyes – Better In Boots
by Ritchie Ritchison for Country Music News International
Charlene Keyes started her career out as Charlene Gordon with Log Cabin Christmas and you can still see the video on her youtube page. She also had a guest appearance on Hee Haw singing her original composition “Listen to the Harp Strings Ring” a song she wrote because of her love for the Carter Family and the Autoharp. Charlene is one of the torch bearers of this uniquely American instrument.
She spent a few years in Nashville doing the songwriter thing but then the Hills of home kept calling her back to her Kentucky roots. Which is where she now reside still writing and playing music. She recently signed to Megalith Nashville Records and is excited to be releasing her new music.
Charlene is a self professed boot junkie according to her press kit and Better in Boots seems to be a good fit for the Kentucky singer/songwriter. According to Charlene wearing boots is just the natural thing to do and nothing is more comfortable than a good pair of boots. So she had to write a song about life being better when wearing the iconic footwear.
The song itself makes you want to tap your feet as it has a sweet little swing to it and if two steppin’ is your thing then grab your own boots and scoot along to a “long love story about a girl in her glory, life’s just better in boots!”
