Chancey Williams, the saddle bronc athlete turned country music sensation, has returned with a dose of humor and a classic country twist in his latest single, “Take One For The Team.” Released across all digital platforms, this track delivers a comical cautionary tale that’s guaranteed to leave listeners chuckling.

The song paints a vivid picture of a typical night at the bar, where Williams and his drinking buddy find themselves eyeing a pair of women. In a display of what he likely thought was clever wit, Williams playfully encourages his friend to “take one for the team” and pursue the “less attractive” of the two. However, the tables quickly turn when the woman Williams is pursuing overhears his snide remarks and delivers her own sharp-tongued retort.

Packed with ironic one-liners and a classic country sound, “Take One For The Team” is a testament to Williams’ ability to blend storytelling with humor. The song, penned by a talented team of writers including Wynn Varble, Don Poythress, Tony Wood, and Todd Tilghman, and produced by Bryce Long, perfectly captures the spirit of a lighthearted country tune.

“In addition to being a great songwriter, Wynn Varble is one of the funniest guys I know. He has a great way of turning a phrase and it really shows up in this song,” Williams shared about the release. “I saw Wynn sing it at a writers round one night and knew right away that I wanted to record it. But listen – you have to hear the whole song before you judge. Haha. This is a ‘what goes around comes around’ kind of a deal!”

“Take One For The Team” follows the success of Williams’ February release, “Miles On Me,” a song that explored themes of wanderlust and emotional depth. Fandom Daily described “Miles On Me” as “a song that blends restless wanderlust with deep emotional weight,” highlighting Williams’ ability to portray a rough-and-tumble cowboy who has weathered the trials of life. The accompanying music video, released on February 21st, showcased Williams finding solace and perseverance in the love of his companion, set against a catchy melody and driving beat.

Prior to “Miles On Me,” Williams released “The Ballad of Uncle Don” in January, a track that Billboard praised for its “compelling meld of authentic storytelling that infuses his family’s experiences, alongside a heady mix of country tinged with rock influences, and Williams’ undeniably country voice.” The song, which tells the story of an accomplished “Oklahoma redneck,” resonated with audiences and its music video landed on CMT, where it dominated the 12 Pack series for five consecutive weeks, reaching the coveted number one spot.

Adding to his already impressive list of achievements, Williams was recently announced as a mainstage performer at this year’s Cheyenne Frontier Days. He will take the historic stage on July 23rd, opening for the legendary duo Brooks & Dunn, who are also Cheyenne Frontier Days Hall of Fame inductees. This performance marks a significant milestone in Williams’ career, further solidifying his place in the country music scene.

Chancey Williams’ unique blend of authentic storytelling, relatable humor, and classic country sound has earned him a dedicated fanbase. With “Take One For The Team,” he continues to showcase his versatility as an artist, delivering a song that’s both entertaining and memorable. As he prepares for his performance at Cheyenne Frontier Days and continues to release new music, Williams is poised to make an even greater impact on the country music landscape.
