CD Review: Trio Dhoore – Momentum

Transatlantic Groove, Fb & Vlored, Endless Dancing, Gepetto / Pinokkio, Momentum, Huiswaarts

Comprised of three brothers from Flanders, Trio Dhoore released their third album in 2016 titled Momentum. The music is uplifting, spirited, and reminds me of an earlier softer version of Coldplay. Deep instrumentals layered to bring the listener into the story; if you close your eyes while listening, you might feel the sea spray on your face.

Transatlantic Groove sends the sails upward! It has the vibe of a picturesque harbor, tranquil and serene, with the anticipation of the voyage ahead—a solid instrumental in beginning any road trip.

Eb & Voila feels the essence of remembrance, the thoughts for that left at home at the journeys start. The only vocal piece on the album, it too shows the deep storytelling and folk underlining.

Endless Dancing is reflective of the expanse of the open seas. A layered revolving piece of music that brings the listener to a soft, twirling state of enjoyment.

Gepetto / Pinokkio begins the labor of the voyage, the rigging, and toil of any seaman. A melodic reflection of the old story of a dancing wooden boy and his father seamlessly joining the journey.

Momentum carries the imagery of sails filling full on a tranquil sea, building gradually, unpredictable to full sail by an unexpected wind, returning the voyage home.

Huiswaarts returns the voyage into the welcoming harbor, family, and friends awaiting their return. A soft ending piece illustrating the fruits of labor at sea and the comfort of loved ones upon their return.
