Blake Shelton only likely to be known to
readers of the German press through his relationship with pop star Gwen
Stefani.  Less well known is probably the
fact that he has long been a successful country singer and “If I’m
Honest” is his 14th album.

Blake, born in Oklahoma in 1976, discovered
his singing talent early on and moved to Nashville at the age of 17 to become a
professional country musician.

It took a few years, but in 1998 he got a
record deal with Warner Brothers and the first single “Austin”, which
spent five weeks at number 1 was released from the debut album “Blake
Shelton”.  Austin not only made it
to number 1 on the country charts, but also to number 18 on the pop charts.

At the beginning of the millennium, three
studio albums were released with successful singles like “Ole Red” and
“Some Beach” which made it to number 1 on the country charts.  Further albums followed, and besides his
musical work Blake was a judge on the talent shows “Nashville Star”,
“Clash of the Choirs and” The Voice “.

Blake Shelton’s success is truly
impressive: 1 platinum album, 1 gold album and 24 number 1 singles in the
American country charts. And finally, in 2016, the artist had his
own exhibition in the “Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum”, which
highlights his career.

If you listen to the latest work “If
I’m Honest”, you are doing so because of the success to date in the
expectation that the artist has once again achieved a great success.

In any case, Blake Shelton serves the
entire musical spectrum, from rock songs like the opener “Straight Outta
Cold Beer” and “Green” to more quiet pieces like “Bet you
Still Think About Me”, “It Ain’t Easy” , “Came Here To
Forget”, or “Savior’s Shadow”.  Some tracks like “Every Time I Hear That
Song”, the single “A Guy With A Girl” or “Go Ahead and
Break My Heart” (in a duet with Gwen Stefani) have real hit potential.
