CD Review: The Band Steele – Waitin’ on
Sunshine – by Preshias Harris for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
A pair of Alabama
boys, The Band Steele
is one of freshest duos to hit the country music charts in a long
while. Bo’s distinctive vocals and their harmonies together make
them one of my favorites on the current Country scene.
“Waitin’ on Sunshine” is the newest studio recording from Bo
Steele and Ben Robino, the duo known as The Band Steele. It tells the
story of falling in love “ever since I saw those fourth of July
fireworks in her eyes,” dancing in the sand and feeling like you’ve
known that person forever. “She’s another long-lost lover / That
stole my heart one week last summer / when we closed our eyes, and
touched lips for the first time…” and now he’s waiting for next
summer in hopes of seeing her again. The wistful lyrics are buoyed
up by an up-tempo contemporary treatment produced by Matt McClure.
Rubino said that the song was inspired by something that happened to
his father: as a young man he went to Florida and fell in love with a
girl but never saw her again after the vacation. (Spoiler alert: the
song has a happy ending!) “Waitin’ on Sunshine” (Fire River
Records) will be available on all digital platforms from Friday
September 20, 2019. More information at https://thebandsteele.com/
