Here
we go: Country rap from Georgia with Redneck rappers Clay “Uncle
Snap” Sharpe and Brian “Rooster” King, aka the Lacs.
Released
in 2012, 190 Proof is the band’s 5
th
Album and 2
nd
one to hit the charts with the recently created Backroad Records
Label.
What
do the guys have to offer? Well, powerful songs that depict Southern
Rock classic themes (“Old River Road”, “Country Boy Fresh”)
sometimes expressed in a more hip-hop manner (“Shake It”). Hence
the fact that they describe themselves as a “Hick-hop” band, QED!
The Country musical background is often enhanced with heavy guitar
riffs, so you will also understand why they chose this name (Lacs
stands for “Loud Ass Crackers”). On this point, genuine Country
Music lover should better go on their way.
190
Proof is nevertheless not deprived of a certain sensibility,
revealing abilities to tell stories and deal with more serious topics
(“Great Moments in Redneck History”).
Humor
is also one of the LP’s strengths, think about a song like “Drink
too much” which might bring back to the Offspring era.
