It absolutely amazes me that there is
so much ‘real’ country music available in America, but is cut off from a
huge  ‘major’ portion of the population, who can’t hear it because the
Mega-Corporation owners of the communication media will not allow it.
Brenda Kaye Perry is a beautiful blend of Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton,
and Tanya Tucker.  These are names you will instantly recognize, but you
have probably not heard Brenda Kaye Perry, for the reasons I have just
stated, but you ‘should’ hear her simply because her very voice contains
all of the above mentioned superstars, but individually, Brenda Kay
Perry is probably as good or better than all the above mentioned.  Her
poignancy (that word means suffering, regret, and feeling) is absolute.
Her voice revels in it.  Her style and manner is believable, very
unlike today’s so-called commercial superstars.  Her personality and
persona is the very embodiment of what ‘happy’ also means in country
music.  So there you have it.  Poignancy and persona in one person,
totally believable.  It makes me so sad to listen to a really really
great singer, vocalist, song storyteller, and realize the cards are
stacked against her.  This is not the America I grew up in, fair,
square, an even playing field. Not even ‘sports’ anymore is that, much
less the music business.  There has to be a way to overcome the
incredible discrimination against ‘real’ country music in America
today.  Brenda Kaye Perry sure would be my ‘pick’ to accomplish exactly
that.  Brenda is going into America’s Old Time Country Music Hall of
Fame in LeMars, Iowa, this fall.  That title which uses the words ‘old’
and ‘time’ represent much more than just ‘old’….meaning advanced and
sensible, and ‘time’ meaning the system of those relations which any
event has to any other in the past, present, or the future.  Brenda Kaye
Perry exists in all of them.  She is a ‘true’ superstar.  Listen just
once, you’ll understand.
