Stop, the newest release by Cat Lion, is a high-octane wake-up call for anyone torn between burning passion and self-preservation. With a blazing track behind her, Cat brings her unmistakable vocal power to deliver a raw and honest performance. Jon Conlay lays out the guitar intro as Matt King’s drums drive the song into the first verse with a force that matches the lyric. “In the middle of the night I am lying awake and my thoughts are going crazy,” prepares the listener for a steamy ride through the mind of a bewildered lover.
With Stop, Cat Lion shifts her country sound into high gear and once again proves why she’s ahead of the curve of European New Wave of Country Music. After exploring her softer, introspective side on “Two Lives” and “Cause Memories, They Last”, the Austrian singer-songwriter now opens a tougher chapter with the latest single from her album, On My Cloud.
An all star lineup, including Tim Galloway on acoustic guitar, Michael Rojas on keyboards, session ace Danny Dugmore on pedal steel and Lex Price playing bass, round out this potent track. Natalie Murphy, Haley Sullivan and Wendy Gruber add the backing vocals. The song was cut at the Sound Emporium in Nashville and produced by Clara Low and Dino Armbruckner. Written by Low and Armbruckner, the lyric infuses the song with passion and desire until the chorus demands, “Stop, I can’t take it any longer, leave my crying heart alone.”
