BRUCE ROBISON & THE BACK PORCH BAND,
AVAILABLE NOW FOR PRE-ORDER MARKING
ROBISON’S FIRST SOLO ALBUM
IN NEARLY A DECADE

Apple Music Pre-Sale Includes “Sweet Dreams”
As An Instant Download Featuring
Robison’s wife Kelly Willis

Nashville, TN – – –  April 12, 2017 – – –  Fans
who have waited nearly 10 years for a new solo project by one of the
most meaningful musical voices in Americana and Country music can stop
counting the days. Not only is Bruce Robison & the Back Porch Band available on April 28, it is available now for pre-order through Apple Music and comes with an instant download of “Sweet Dreams,” which features Robison’s wife Kelly Willis.

“I
figured out a long time ago that Kelly is the key to my music,” Robison
said. “And when she sings, she changes the melody; and I’m counting on
her to do that. I see myself just as a songwriter and she’s a vocal
stylist, and someone who just kind of takes a song on within themselves
like the great singers do. And she’ll – without even thinking about it –
she’ll just change it up and sing it like it ought to be.”

A collaborator in life and the studio, Robison and Willis released two well-received duet albums including Cheater’s Game (2013) and Our Year (2014), but it has been nine years since Robison released a solo studio project, The New World (2008).

Robison has long been lauded by critics and tastemakers: “Bruce Robison is a prime example…[of] keeping the spirit of the traditional Texas troubadour alive,” according to Paste magazine.

“Every
genre has core artists. Every format has a few artists it can’t do
without. Every radio station needs a handful of artists to help set its
compass. Bruce Robison is ours,” exclaimed Mattson Rainer of KNBT. “He’s
the yard stick by which all modern Americana songwriters are
measured.”

Known
for his artistry as a singer-songwriter, with hit recordings of his
compositions coming from Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, George Strait, and
Dixie Chicks, Robison returns with an album of all-new original
material. Music industry gatekeeper, Billboard provided
an exclusive look at one of the new tracks, “Sweet Dreams,” featuring
Willis. The clip was shot in their studio in Lockhart, Texas near
Austin.

Keeping
it simple was the guiding principle behind the album, which is a
collection of Robison originals, co-writes, and covers that capture
country’s most beloved stylistic elements: good-time, lighthearted romps
(“Rock and Roll Honky Tonk Ramblin’ Man” and “Paid My Dues”) and
wistful, sometimes bittersweet ballads (“Long Time Coming” and “Still
Doin’ Time”).

But
even the Who’s “Squeezebox” — which Robison calls “a great country song
by some English dudes” — shows up, in a lively version dressed with
Cajun fiddle by Warren Hood and acoustic guitar and harmonies by Willis.
The album reflects other influences, as well: Christie Hayes’ “Lake of
Fire” reflects his love of the ‘70s West Coast sound embodied by Jackson
Browne and Linda Ronstadt.

“I’m always collecting songs,” he said. “I’m just a fan of songs, and I love the way they come alive.”
