said the whole event surpassed expectations:
‘It’s
hard to put into words… I’m blown away by the excitement and
atmosphere… it really was surreal and so, so special to be performing
for so many fans, family, friends, and people I grew up with who’ve
supported me since the beginning, in my hometown; it was an awesome
night,’ said Kissel.

Memories
of the concert – a first of its kind for the community of St. Paul, AB –
were not the only impressions left in town. Over sixty-thousand dollars
was raised for provincial and local charities and non-profit
organizations as a result of the event, including a ten-thousand-dollar
cash donation by Kissel and event producers, with five thousand dollars
directed towards Fort McMurray fire-relief efforts and five thousand
dollars going to local cancer-support society, ‘Haying in the 30’s.’
That donation was matched by business-mogul and philanthropist W. Brett
Wilson of ‘Dragon’s Den’ fame, who flew in from Calgary for the special
show.

Kissel was surprised when he was presented on stage with yet another Gold Record for his first single, ‘Started With a Song’.
Asked to sum up the entire Hometown Homecoming experience, Kissel replied,
‘Incredible…that’s the only word for it! We might just have to do this again.’
