Bill Abernathy Interview Part 4

by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

Lamitschka: What has been your greatest challenge in music business?

Abernathy: Finding where my music fits, building and audience and then keeping folks engaged as the projects roll out. I do understand that not everyone is going to like what we do, but it is satisfying to see so many folks who do.

Lamitschka: What moments in your career stand out in your memory as highlights and achievements which you are proud of?

Abernathy: I really enjoy when we can use what we do to help others. I play a lot of shows that are benefits for organizations I want to support. Seeing what I do help make a difference in others’ lives is something I am really proud of.

Lamitschka: Any thoughts of retirement ahead?

Abernathy: GREAT QUESTION… I am actually retiring from my 9-5 job in November of 2020! I am really excited to be able to focus on music full time.

Lamitschka: Who is your biggest critic, yourself or others?

Abernathy: Me without a doubt. I am a bit particular about some things so mixing sessions for our records are always interesting.

Lamitschka: When you get time off, how do you like to relax?

Abernathy: I really like to just shut down and turn off. Do nothing and just enjoy my surroundings. Now if that happens to be a beautiful mountain range, while drinking a really good beer, then it’s perfect.

Lamitschka: Is there anything in your life that you would change if you could?

Abernathy: I don’t do regrets. I think everyone can look back and think they should have done some things differently. I don’t see the value in that because without the lessons I have learned through my life, I would not be who or where I am today.

Lamitschka: What hopes and desires do you have?

Abernathy: I hope for everyone but in particular my kids and grandkids that life gives them opportunities to follow their dreams to their fullest potential.

Lamitschka: What has been the biggest disappointment in your life?

Abernathy: Well if I were 6’4 and had a good set of knees’ I could be playing in the NFL. lol

Lamitschka: Many European fans travel to the United States to attend the several of the music festivals for the opportunity to see so many of their favorite artists, bands and celebrities. Will you be participating and how will the fans be able to find you?

Abernathy: With Covid most of the festivals have been cancelled or delayed until 2021. I enjoy playing them, meeting other musicians and seeing all our fans. Check our social media for our upcoming events.

Lamitschka: Is there any place you haven’t played that you would like to?

Abernathy: Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. It’s a dream of mine.
