“I
can’t say how influential and impactful this trip was for me,” says
Barry. “Being a guest alongside General Chuck Yeager on the Armed
Forces tour was an unprecedented honor. I am very fortunate that we
were able to return early enough that I could be a part of this
ceremony.”

The ground breaking ceremony is part of the Healing Heroes Golf Week (www.healingheroesgolfweek.com)
in which more than two dozen severely injured veterans from the Global
War on Terror will be honored as guests at the Palm Key Retreat April
23-27. The event is hosted by the Independence Fund, an all volunteer
combat veteran run non-profit, and the Palm Key Development. According
to the Independence Fund’s Chief Operating Officer, Captain James
Howard, USA (ret.) the proposed site of the chapel and Remembrance Wall
could not be more ideal. “Not only does the natural beauty of the
setting lend itself to a sense of peace and calm that visitors, and
visiting veterans in particular, will find healing, but the physical
location is less than five miles off of Interstate 95 at a geographic
location that is exactly mid way between New York City and Miami Beach.
It will make this Low Country fixture a natural stop for any veteran
traveling up or down the Eastern Seaboard.”

About Barry Michael:
Barry
has been an active supporter of the military throughout his career with
performances and visits at bases across the globe and continuously
reaching out to organizations that raise moral and offer services
specific to the needs of soldiers and their families. He released a
track “Heroes & Angels” as a Veterans Day tribute which rose to the
Top 5 Country Downloads on PlayMPE the day it was released. Today Barry
is climbing the charts with a back roads anthem “Uncountrify Me.” An ode to all things country, the single speaks
to the boot-wearing sensibility in all of us. Barry sings in his
charming southern drawl, “I am who I am and that’s all I can be,” and
goes on to note that as a boy raised in the outskirts of Atlanta, he
grew up knowing city life, but once he experienced the simplicity of the
country, there was no going back for this urban cowboy. After perusing
through fields of creative outlets, Barry found his foundation in music
when he signed with Stockbridge Records who released his debut album, Ripped Blue Jeans and ATVs featuring the current single. He
has had the privilege of performing at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in
addition to opening up for country hit-makers such as Tim McGraw, The
Band Perry, Craig Morgan, Kellie Pickler and John Michael Montgomery.
