Back PorchEstra Allons A Lafayette

CD Single Review: Back PorchEstra Allons A Lafayette

By Natasha James for Country Music News International

In an era of loudness wars in mastering, and cookie cutter country pop songs and songwriting, this beautiful and timeless rendition of Allons A Lafayette, a haunting and catchy Southwest Louisiana Dance hall melody, stands out as a harkening back to the stripped down, front porch family picking style straight out of the country shacks of Louisiana and Appalachia in the 1920’s, evoking ancestral and historic European and American musical cultures with this first Cajun song ever released on recording (a 78rpm from 1928).

BackPorchEstra is a collection of veteran musicians assembled by Tim Eschliman (Etta James, Commander Cody, New Copasetics), and includes: Bowen Brown (John Lee Hooker, Tommy Castro, Rhythmtown-Jive), Candy Girard (Delaney Bramlet, Tanya Tucker, Clint Black and Jerry Garcia (on his album “Cats Down Under the Stars”) & Beau Beaullieau (California Honeydrops).

Keep an eye out for the CD, “Voices In My Head“, out soon on Globe Records. Allons a Lafayette is installed in the Mediabase system and can be heard on a variety of music
