(Nashville, Tennessee…) – New Sony Music Nashville artist and Air National Guard Tech Sergeant Angie Johnson, who gained fame when a video of her singing on a military base in the Middle East went viral, has been announced as the opening act for the fall dates of Scotty McCreery’s successful Weekend RoadTrip Tour 2013. She will join the tour this Sunday, September 1, 2013 in Manteo, NC.
“I
just love Scotty’s voice,” said Angie. “He’s a real talent, and I’m
super excited to join him on his Weekend RoadTrip Tour. I think we’re
going to have a blast on the road together!”
Prior to hitting the road, the St. Louis native, whose debut single, “Swagger,” is impacting radio now, will sing the National Anthem at the Rams’ final pre-season game tonight, Thursday, August 29, 2013.
Angie, who has been busy visiting radio stations in support of “Swagger,” was recently featured in Billboard and the 18 million-circulation USA Weekend.
She was featured on ESPN as the Grand Marshal of NASCAR’s recent
Cheez-It 355 Sprint Cup Race, where she sang the National Anthem and
called out the four most famous words in racing: “Drivers, start your
engines.” “Swagger” has been the most added single by a new female
artist for three consecutive weeks.

About Angie Johnson:
Sony Music Nashville recording artist, Angie Johnson, began her
military career as an intelligence analyst in the United States Air
Force. She later toured as a vocalist with the prestigious Tops In Blue performance group. Following the year-long tour, she was recruited into the Air Force Band as a full-time vocalist. She was honorably discharged after fulfilling her active duty commitment and then transitioned into the Missouri Air National Guard’s 571st Air Force Band, as a vocalist in their Top 40 element, Sidewinder. Angie was deployed with Sidewinder to
the Middle East, where the band gave an impromptu performance for a
small group of troops. An audience member recorded Angie’s rendition of
Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” and posted the video on YouTube, where it
went viral. The now-famous video has received more than 3.4 million

host Carson Daly saw the video, tracked Angie down via Twitter and
invited her to audition for NBC’s “The Voice,” where she became a
contestant on Team Cee Lo. The extensive media exposure, combined with
her talent and tenacity, caught the attention of Sony Music Nashville
