Louisiana Music Hall of Famer Amanda Shaw has ignited the music scene with her latest single, “Bad,” a powerful anthem of female empowerment that masterfully blends her Cajun roots with a raw, rock-infused energy. This collaboration, featuring New Orleans legend Fred LeBlanc of Cowboy Mouth and produced by Dolly Parton’s esteemed bandleader and guitarist Kent Wells, marks another bold step in Shaw’s genre-defying musical journey.

“Bad” is a sultry, high-octane track that showcases Shaw’s signature fiddle prowess and commanding vocals. The song’s lyrics, penned by Fred LeBlanc, explore the exhilarating freedom and self-love found after a breakup, transforming a narrative into a celebration of independence. Shaw’s interpretation imbues the song with a unique feminine perspective, reclaiming the narrative and transforming it into a powerful declaration of self-possession.

“I’ve been a fan of Cowboy Mouth and Fred for a long time, so when he pitched me the song I instantly knew it was something I’d love to record and perform live,” Shaw shares. “Kent Wells did an amazing job capturing that signature New Orleans sound in the studio, and challenged me to step outside my vocal comfort zone.”

The track’s production, helmed by Kent Wells, expertly captures the vibrant spirit of New Orleans, providing a rich sonic landscape for Shaw’s dynamic performance. The fusion of Cajun instrumentation with modern rock elements creates a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly innovative.

A pivotal element of “Bad” is its lyrical content. The chorus, “I’m gonna be bad / And it’s gonna feel good / I’m gonna do everything your mother said we never should / I’m gonna be bad / And I want to do wrong / You’re gonna be every broken heart / Inside of my every song,” encapsulates the song’s rebellious spirit and unapologetic embrace of independence. Shaw’s delivery is both fierce and vulnerable, adding layers of depth to the song’s message.

Fred LeBlanc’s perspective on Shaw’s rendition of “Bad” is equally enthusiastic. “Amanda’s version of ‘Bad’ is something else,” he states. “That fiddle of hers adds this whole new layer of attitude, a raw, fiery energy that makes the song even better than I imagined. And the way she blends her Cajun influences with a modern sound? It’s like the whole spirit of Louisiana is bottled up in that song now.”

Amanda Shaw, a New Orleans native now based in Nashville, has consistently pushed the boundaries of Americana music. Her unique sound, a blend of traditional Cajun rhythms with contemporary rock and pop influences, has garnered critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase. With “Bad,” she continues to solidify her position as a visionary artist who seamlessly bridges musical worlds.

Shaw’s deep connection to her Louisiana roots is evident in her music, which pulsates with the vibrant energy of the region. Her move to Nashville has further broadened her musical horizons, allowing her to collaborate with top-tier producers and musicians, resulting in a sound that is both authentic and universally appealing.

“Bad” is more than just a single; it’s a testament to Amanda Shaw’s artistic evolution and her unwavering commitment to creating music that resonates with authenticity and innovation.
