Amanda Page Cornett Rocks with Cajun Kirk and Bella
By Alan Shipston for Country Music News International Magazine
Bringing southern rock n soul to the table, Cornett rocks hard with “Cajun Kirk and Bella,” her new single release. The lyrics tell a story of meeting a man who is traveling with his dog while log boating on the Mississippi River. The chugging blues-based song bristles with distorted electric slide guitar as Cornett lays into the first verse:
Met Cajun Kirk jumpin’ boats on the mighty Mississippi Pushin’ logs, headed down to Baton Rouge Said “Here’s my first mate Bella; came here from Alaska Three quarters wolf and malamute”
Amanda has a throaty vocal approach when she launches into the robust chorus while the band pulses behind her:
That Mississippi’s long, never know where it’ll take ya Only find out if ya jump on for the ride That ragin’ rushin’ river runs magic muddy water It can kill ya or it can heal ya deep inside
Written by Mark Narmore, Amanda Cornett, and Grant Walden, “Cajun Kirk and Bella” has a satisfying authentic style, sure to please boogie/blues aficionados. A simple rhythm section of drums, bass and piano leave plenty of room for traditional guitar parts to blaze through the tune.
