Alex Miller: A Rising Star in Country Music – By Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine

Alex Miller’s star is ascending rapidly in the country music world. The 6’6″ singer/songwriter from rural Lancaster, Kentucky, made his Grand Ole Opry debut in June 2024, a moment he describes as “incredible,” shared with fans who traveled from across the country. This milestone marks the latest achievement in a career that’s been moving at warp speed.

Miller’s natural charisma and talent have quickly made him a fan favorite. His relentless touring schedule throughout 2021, coupled with accolades like being named the Texas Roadhouse Artist of the Month (October) and performing a duet with Grand Ole Opry star Rhonda Vincent at the Lee Greenwood All-Star Salute concert (November), laid the groundwork for his continued success.

By early 2022, Miller had already graced the stages of multiple state fairs (Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Washington, Wisconsin) and opened for established artists such as Hank, Jr., Josh Turner, Lee Brice, and Shenandoah. His momentum continued throughout 2022, with opportunities to open for Brooks & Dunn, Jamey Johnson, King Calaway, and Aaron Watson, along with appearances with Diamond Rio and Sawyer Brown, and a debut at the Wild Rose Casinos in Iowa.

2023 saw Miller’s name on bills alongside prominent artists like Chris Janson, Chapel Hart, Drake Milligan, Noah Thompson, Dillon Carmichael, HunterGirl, Emily Ann Roberts, and Tracy Byrd. His fair appearances expanded to include state fairs in Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Oklahoma, and West Virginia, and county fairs across numerous states. Further showcasing his versatility, Miller partnered with CMR Nashville, Europe’s #1 Country Music Radio Station, to host a monthly radio show, “MILLER TIME.” Capping off a remarkable year, he received the American FFA Degree, the organization’s highest honor.

In 2024, Miller continued his impressive trajectory, opening for headliners like Justin Moore, Ian Munsick, Neal McCoy, and Alabama. “I’m always working to better myself and my music,” he emphasizes. “But I’m country … ain’t nothin’ gonna change that.”

Miller’s dedication to songwriting is evident. He sees it as a way to stay grounded while also exploring new musical avenues. Recent collaborations with hitmakers like Kent Blazy, Larry Cordle, Kirsti Manna, Byron Hill, Carl Jackson, Wood Newton, Emily Ann Roberts, Jerry Salley, Josh Shilling, and Bill Whyte have been invaluable. “Writing with folks of this caliber has been a huge step for me,” Miller explains. “The hits they’ve written are crazy. Working with them, learning from them … it’s broadened my horizon musically and made me more confident.”

His songwriting shines on his latest EP, MY DADDY’S DAD, released on April 12. Co-writing three of the five tracks, Miller showcases his growth as an artist. Produced by Jerry Salley for Billy Jam Records, the title track quickly became a Country radio hit, and the second single, “She Makes Dirt Look Good,” is poised for similar success. The EP demonstrates Miller’s range and solidifies his position as a force to be reckoned with in country music.

For a “kid from Kentucky” who started performing at the age of seven, Alex Miller’s journey is a testament to his talent and dedication. From local shows in Lancaster to performances at prestigious venues like the Dolby Theatre and Lucas Oil Stadium, Miller’s expressive tenor voice and instrumental skills on guitar, lap steel, ukulele, bass, and banjo have propelled him forward. Alex Miller is not just a rising star; he’s a force charting his own course in the country music landscape.
