How did you choose the Name Two
Rocks Band?

The Birth of Two Rocks Band goes back
to the year 2001. Daniel Spreiter and me played Guitar togehter. We
thought , that somehow we needed to get a name for what we are, what
we do. We come from
rock music, so we chose
the name Zwei Rocks.
But that didn’t sound good
in our ears, so
we changed it to
Two Rocks.

I have heard that you are
working on the second CD, what can the Countryfan expect?

The Countryfan
can expect a
whole CD of my own
compositions. The first CD “Memory Train”
has three cover songs on it, I don’t really want that anymore. I
want the
listener to actually
hear the Two Rocks Band own things.

Which style
will be heard
on the CD?
Rather rocky,
as your name suggests,
or also
traditional
country
and
ballads?

I would like to have a
bit of everything, but more
traditional country
and also some ballads.
There won’t be many Rock songs.

Where do you get the
inspirations for the songs?

I surf pretty much
in U-tube,
which nowdays almost everyone
is doing. I think it’s
a good site
to get an
inspiration. From
there I may get a melody
in my head. The lyrics
consist of my own
experiences, not
something invented,
but really
something that
I want to tell
about my life.

Your
English
is very good,
so to speak
without an accent,
and your
grammar
is also correct,
why is that?

I think it’s
a bit of a routine
when I sing, since I do that for more
than 10 years now. It
certainly had an influence
that I had a
partner who was
born in England. This
has helped in any case
with the
grammar. The
accent-free
pronunciation comes
from practice
and more practice,
which gives routine.

But you have more the
american english.

When singing yes, but when
talking, it is more the british accent.

What are the goals
of the
Two Rocks
Band? Are
you also planning to go abroad?

The goals are, that we
certainly also have performances abroad. We’ve
been to Germany
and were
allowed to play in the
well-known Four
Corners Music Hall.
We were also in
Austria, we
had to do with the
ACMF, the
Austrian Country Music
Federation, have
also played there.
The goal is
that we
can go
even further away,
I even
have dreams
to be on stage in
Nashville.

What are your own
goals?

My
goals are, that at
some point it can be said that Two Rocks Band has a status, even in
Nashville. That would be a great goal. I do not mean to sound
arrogant, I am a person who always sets very high goals. Whether I
reach them or not, is another matter, but I can say with a clear
conscience, I have done everything in order to achieve this goal.

Tell us something
about Kurt Frei, what kind of person is he?

Kurt Frei is someone
that does a lot, sometimes almost too much. I have a 100% job at the
electricity plant in Murg and I give 100% to
the music and my Band. It takes a lot of strengt in order to bring
both under
one roof. That’s me,
I just want to do
everything that I live
for.

What does the winning of
the Swiss Country Music Award mean to Two Rocks Band?

Me and my Band are very
proud to have won the Swiss Country Music Award 2012,
the certificate will always have a place of honor. It also was
surprising for us, that radio stations and other significant people
from the States became aware of us. It shows us
that the
Swiss Country Award
can be an important
showcase for the Swiss
country music scene. It
was long overdue that
someone had the courage
to put such an award
on its feet. Therefore,
praise to the
organizer Andreas
Wüthrich. I
also hope that the
award was
not a
one time thing. Everyone should pull together
now and keep the Swiss
Country Awards
alive.

What else would you like
to tell the people, something that is important to you and your Band?

We really appreciate
how the
fans, that we have won
in these eleven years,
visit us again
and again, no matter
where we have
our performances. So,
a big thank you to
all those who are
always on
the Two Rocks
concerts.
