Interview with Bryce Pallister

Lamitschka:  Music has many new fans throughout Europe who
may be hearing about you for the first time. How would you describe
yourself and the music you play to someone who has never seen or
heard you?

Bryce Pallister:  My Music is traditional country with a bent
of bluegrass, blues and southern rock music; which are all my
greatest influences.

Lamitschka:  How was the last year for you? What were your
highlights?

Bryce Pallister:  Busy getting this album recorded, finished
up university in Manitoba (where I’m from), and got engaged (to my
girlfriend)

Lamitschka:  What is your latest CD and how’s it doing?

Bryce Pallister:  Latest CD is Called Down Dusty Roads.
I have been busy promoting it in Canada and will be playing a bunch
of shows here throughout the summer.

Lamitschka:  How did you choose the title for the CD?
Is there a story behind the name?

Bryce Pallister:  It’s named after one of the tracks of the
album. Definately relates to me as I’m a farmer and enjoy
travelling down dusty roads

Lamitschka:  Do you write the songs yourself? If not, how do
you go about finding the songs for your CD?

Bryce Pallister:  I
wrote some songs on the album, some were written by people I’ve
worked with, and there are a couple of cover songs on the record as
well. I try to find songs that capture the sound that I’m
looking for, the song definately has to tell a story and move me
personally 

Lamitschka:  What is the difference between your last CD and
your current one?

Bryce Pallister:  I think I’ve moved a bit more away from a
complete mainstream sound in my music. Just trying to make music I
can be proud of

Lamitschka:  Your current single is being played by radio.
What do you feel is special about this song that makes people want to
hear it?

Bryce Pallister:  My current single is a tunes called One
Of These Days it’s a great summer song about a guy trying to
get the girl of his dreams.

Lamitschka:  What will your next single be?

Bryce Pallister:  Not sure but probably a tune called Good
Enough For My Girl

Lamitschka:  What is your favorite song among all the songs
you have recorded and what’s the story behind it?

Bryce Pallister:  I’m partial to a tune called BOURBON as
it’s an interesting story about
a guy who has killed his cheating wife and friend and is on
the run, with nothing left but the taste of bourbon to console him as
he faces death row. 

Lamitschka:  How much creative control do you have over your
music?

Bryce Pallister:  Quite a bit I’d say, one of the nice
things about being an independent artist

Lamitschka:  Do you have any interesting stories about how
fans have been affected by your music?

Bryce Pallister:  I certainly enjoy hearing about how my fans
have came accross my music. It’s crazy how far it’s reached over
my career

Lamitschka:  Who inspires you musically and how deep do your
musical roots run?

Bryce Pallister:  a number of artists. KD Lang, George
Strait, Ricky Skaggs, The Allman Brothers.

Lamitschka:  What do you think about today’s music scene
versus its post and where do you see it going in the future?

Bryce Pallister:  I dunno, mainstream country isn’t quite
as inspiring as it used to be. Alot of songs that are pretty shallow
lyric and melody wise. At the same time if you dig a little deeper
there are alot of really cool country artists on the fringe doing
some really cool things. So I think the future is bright for
country. As it seems country music goes from being mainstream (now
is quite like the „urban Cowboy“ days of the early 80’s where
pop country was the rage). To era’s where it isn’t as mainstream
(think 70’s and the highwaymen, and 90’s with artists like dwight
yoakum and clint black) In my opinion country makes way better
quality music when it isn’t so mainstream.

Lamitschka:  If you had the chance to change something about
the music industry, what would it be?

Bryce Pallister:  Well I think the industry is changing for
the better. In certain areas it’s very concentrated (think
mainstream radio) but thanks to the internet theres lots of
oppurtunity for artists who don’t fit into the mainstream box.

Lamitschka:  As an artist, you so many tasks such as
recording, touring, interviews. What do you like best, what’s your
favorite activity?

Bryce Pallister:  Touring I’d say, meeting new people

Lamitschka:  What can your fans expect to see when they see
you in concert?

Bryce Pallister:  A show where everyone on stage is genuine.
Very raw performance. Not very staged

Lamitschka:  Many music fans today get their information
about artists online. Do you have your own website and what will fans
