Honey County Interview by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

Lamitschka:  Music has many new fans throughout
Europe who may be hearing about you for the first time. How would you describe
yourself and the music you play to someone who has never seen or heard you?

Answer:  We’re a female pop-country trio rooted in three part vocal harmonies,
soaring guitar parts, and pop hooks.

Lamitschka:  How was the last year for you? What were
your highlights?

Answer:  The last year has been amazing! We got to open for country artist Brett
Eldredge at an 8,000 person venue, play a festival with Florida Georgia Line,
Maren Morris, and Little Big Town, and hear our song Love Someone on CMT’s show
“Nashville.”

Lamitschka:  What is your latest CD and how’s it
doing?

Answer:  We haven’t released a full album yet, but our latest single “Sale of the
Summer” is doing great. The video just premiered on Radio Disney Country, which
we were very excited about.

Lamitschka:  Do you write the songs yourself? If not,
how do you go about finding the songs for your CD?

Answer:  We do write the songs ourselves. We love writing together and working
with other songwriters to bring our ideas to life.

Lamitschka:  Please tell us about the songs on your
album (influences, etc).

Answer:  Lately, we’ve been really inspired by artists like Little Big Town,
Devin Dawson, and Dan + Shay. We love their vocal arrangements and colorful
lyrics. The stories behind the lyrics of our latest few singles all come from
their own place in our life experience.

Lamitschka:  Your current single is being played by
radio. What do you feel is special about this song that makes people want to
hear it?

Answer:  “Sale of the Summer,” our current single, is a really fun, upbeat summer
song that tells the story of a girl that gets cheated on by her boyfriend, and
sells all of his belongings as payback. The angle of the song, and the way the
story is told, is definitely unique and fun, and lots of people love the
wittiness of the lyrics coupled with the catchiness of the melody.

Lamitschka:  What will your next single be?

Answer:  Not sure yet!

Lamitschka:  What kind of songs do you like to record
the most?

Answer:  Anything with a compelling story, and a memorable melody.

Lamitschka:  What is your favorite song among all the
songs you have recorded and what’s the story behind it?

Answer:  Our collective favorite seems to be our song High on the Radio. It’s
such a fun, lighthearted song, and it’s so fun to play live. Dani, our lead
singer, wrote that with a few other writers in LA about the nostalgia of a
summer romance. It was really fun to work on together in the studio too. We had
a great time working out all the different layers of harmonies and guitar parts,
and the mix came out sounding incredible.

Lamitschka:  Do you have any interesting stories
about how fans have been affected by your music?

Answer:  We have heard several stories of different fans being moved to tears by
our song “Love Someone.” That song is really special to us, and it’s even more
special to know how it has impacted our fans.

Lamitschka:  Who inspires you musically and how deep
do your musical roots run?

Answer:  We all grew up with very musical families, and were encouraged to play
instruments and perform at a young age. Our most consistent inspiration these
days is Little Big Town, but we are also super inspired by Keith Urban, Old
Dominion, John Mayer, and Fleetwood Mac.

Lamitschka:  What do you think about today’s music
scene versus its post and where do you see it going in the future?

Answer: Today’s music scene is very inspiring to us because we are seeing more
and more blending of genres and innovation in arrangements and songwriting. It
poses a wonderful time to be creative and expand our own musical horizons.

Lamitschka:  What do you think about today’s music
industry?

Answer:  This is a super exciting time in music right
now, because independent artists have such a fair chance at making a career for
themselves. Between streaming services and social media, there are so many ways
to reach fans besides just being signed to a record label.

Lamitschka:  If you had the chance to change
something about the music industry, what would it be?

Answer:  Ensure that all legislature remained relevant and updated in such a way
that fairly compensates artists and songwriters.

Lamitschka:  As an artist, you so many tasks such as
recording, touring, interviews. What do you like best, what’s your favorite
activity?

Answer:  More than anything, we love playing our music for people. Performing
live and connecting with new fans is unlike anything else, and we can’t get
enough of it.

Lamitschka:  Are you doing anything to take music
beyond its current borders or are you happy where it is?

Answer:  We are super inspired with the places music is headed, and are
definitely doing our part to continue pushing boundaries, while still staying
true to the aspects we love.

Lamitschka:  What was your big break that got you
into the music business?

Answer:  We all had separate instances of breaking into the music business, but
our first major exciting break as a band was being featured in Rolling Stone
Country’s Top 10 Bands You Need to Know. That article made a lot of things
happen for us, and really gave us a great foundation to start building our
career on.

Lamitschka:  What inspired you to become an artist?

Answer:  All of us grew up in musical families, and I think the main initial
inspiration for all of us becoming artists lies somewhere in our upbringing.
Dani’s dad played piano and built amps in the basement, Katie’s dad sang and
played guitar and wrote love songs, and Devon’s dad was a full time touring
guitarist.

Lamitschka:  What inspired you to become a
songwriter?

Answer:  The idea of being able to share stories and personal creations with
someone that could potentially mean as much – or more – to them as they do to
yourself.

Lamitschka:  Is there any place you haven’t played
that you would like to?

Answer:  We have never played in Europe, and would absolutely love to!

Lamitschka:  What can your fans expect to see when
they see you in concert?

Answer:  A dynamic, engaging, high energy musical experience!

Lamitschka:  When you’re on tour, do you have time to
play tourist?

Answer:  Sometimes we do! It depends how much time we get in a certain place. Katie
is really good at picking out fun places to eat, and Devon is always up for
adventure, so we definitely make the most of our experiences traveling.

Lamitschka:  Many music fans today get their
information about artists online. Do you have your own website and what will
fans find there?

Answer:  We do! It’swww.honeycounty.com. You can find music, info about us, and
upcoming tour dates.

Lamitschka:  What’s the best compliment a fan has
ever given you?

Answer:  “You sing that song better than Taylor Swift”
