The ‘Around The World Round The Clock Sports, music, and podcasts’ internet radio station without borders called ‘Mix Tape Radio International’ is closing business, come Friday, 16th December 2022, as per the sad announcement by its official, Mr. John Walton, the co-owner of MTRI.

MTRI, it’s gathered, is a club of independent radio presenters, gathering together under one banner to inform and entertain their listeners; and stands for independence and fairness.

Although the station was said to have “envisaged with an all genre of music, and an open language and culture policy”, it had attracted a number of country and western shows.

Mr. John Walton, a South African, broke the shocking news that on Mix Tape Radio International’s Facebook page sent shock waves, in these words: “It’s with a sad heart that we have to announce the closing of Mix Tape Radio International.

“The decision was a hard one but both Tom and I agree that it has become a financial drain that cannot be sustained.

“As there is no point in prolonging the inevitable the station will fall silent at 23:59:59 Friday 16th December 2022.

“We also thank our loyal listeners and hope they follow their favorite DJ on other stations.

“Thank you all for your support over the years. It has been a privilege to have worked with such accomplished radio presenters knowledgeable and entertaining, dedicated to their craft.

“We believe that we had a top-class line-up and regret our part in its failure.”

The announcement continues: “We wish you all the best and thank you for your hard work, and loyalty. Goodbye, goodnight, MTRI Out…”

Janet Walton, also an Admin to the MTRI group page, laments, to everyone, “sorry to be pointing this news out today. We had many fantastic years bringing new sounds on the radio.

“Now new things are calling and John and I will be off roading into the new year. Its been fun and laughter and lots of hard work from John, Tom, and Nettie.

“Life pulls in fifteenth directions and off we go. wishing all our fantastic DJ’s and listeners a fanatic festive time. Find and follow your DJ’s as they find new homes.”

However, the news was received with shock among the page’s followers.
