Jason Crabb, Melinda Doolittle, The Martins & Clay Crosse Will Highlight
Event in Franklin
(Nashville, Tennessee) — September 12, 2012 –Award winning Nashville singer/songwriter/producer Regie Hamm again
this year continues the legacy of an evening of great music and special
giving that has become synonymous with the annual presentation of the “Bella Bash.”
The event, targeted to bring awareness
and support to the generic testing, diagnosis and treatment of
Angelman’s Syndrome in children, this year has a special focus. Funds
raised through the evening will help provide national distribution of a
new video developed by Hamm through his own non-profit organization, The
Angel Wings Foundation.  The video is being presented with the specific
goal of educating medical professionals on the often mis-diagnosed
mysteries that surround AS.
On Thursday, October 11 a stellar list of Regie Hamm’s celebrity friends will join forces for Middle Tennessee’s 5th Annual Bella Bash.
Artists set to join Regie onstage include Grammy and multi-Dove Award winner Jason Crabb, America Idol’s Melinda Doolittle, Dove Award winner Clay Crosse, and Dove Award winning group The Martins. Tim Akers & The Smoking Section will
again this year serve as the always stellar “Bash” house band. The
event will be held at the Frankin Theater in historic downtown Franklin.
Doors at 7:00 PM will follow a 6:30 P.M. celebrity red carpet. Concert
will begin at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $50.00 per person in advance and can
be resourced online at www.bellabash.org
The story behind the “Bella Bash” is a
very personal one. In 2003, Regie Hamm and his wife Yolanda flew to
China to adopt their first child, Isabella Xin Meng Hamm.  Unknown to
them at the time, baby “Bella” suffered from a rare genetic disorder,
Angelman Syndrome–a neuro-genetic disorder that occurs in approximately
1 in 15,000 live births and is often mis-diagnosed as cerebral palsy or
autism. Characteristics of AS include developmental delays, lack of
speech, seizures, and walking and balance disorders. “Angels” are
missing a tiny piece of maternal chromosome that renders them in need of
constant care throughout life.
In honor of Bella, the “Bella Bash” was
established in 2008 as a evening of music dedicated to raising much
needed funds and awareness of Angelman Syndrome and the myriad of rare
mental disorders still in the shadows and often mis-diagnosed.
As a further step in his personal quest
to raise national awareness of AS, Hamm, a multi-Grammy nominee and four
time SESAC “Songwriter of the Year,” with 21 #1 hits to his credit,
founded the The Angel Wings Foundation in 2010.  The vision is to not
only assist in providing diagnoses for those suffering from rare mental
disabilities, but to be a complete resource for the families, providing
physical, speech/communication and occupational therapies, nutritional,
emotional, and logistical ‘real world’ support for those facing the
challenge and their caregivers.  Registered as a 501(c)(3) non profit,
The Angel Wings Foundation is dedicated to a quality of life and care
for a segment of children too often under-served.
Particular excitement for this year’s
event surrounds the release of the new video—an educational tool that
holds the potential of offering vital information to a medical community
that has too often overlooked Angelman’s Syndrome in the search for
definitive identification and treatment of neuro-genetic disorders.
Regie will embark on a national media campaign to support awareness for
AS and the availability of the new educational video resource.
Notes Hamm: “I meet Angelman families all
over the country whose story is similar to that of our family’s.  We
went through several years without a definitive diagnosis for Bella.
The ongoing goal of the foundation and my work personally through the
‘Bella Bash’ is to raise funds that will allow us to increase awareness
and help the quality of life for these amazing families and their
As in the four previous presentations of the “Bella Bash,” a
full evening of world-class musical artists, delicious food, and fun
await all attendees!  More than that, it’s an evening in Middle
Tennessee of music for a cause that matters.
